Parishes in Ft. Walton/Destin?

My girlfriend is in Florida for the weekend and wanted me to find a parish for her and her non-Catholic friends to go to. Anyone know of any “impressive” parishes in the Ft. Walton/Destin area?

St Peter (Mary Esther, west of Hurlburt Field) – smallish, generally conservative congregation; I hear they got a new priest a while back but have no idea what he’s like.
St Mary’s (Ft Walton) – huge, impersonal; it’s bigger than the cathedrals in the diocese. Congregation and priests are fairly moderate in viewpoint.

I haven’t been to any others in that area that I remember.

My parents attend Corpus Christi in Destin but I would not recommend it unless you attend the early Sunday Mass (8 AM I think). Resurrection Church in Destin is acceptable, if you don’t mind Church in the round. They have the most astonighing 20 foot crucifix with the most breathtaking corpus in their Stations of the Cross Garden. Even if you don’t go to Mass there, I *highly *recommend you go see this amazing sculpture.

St. Mary’s in Ft. Walton is acceptable.

Unfortunately, as my parents have learned, there is a terrible lack of truly reverant Churches in this area. The Cathedral in Pensacola is probably the closest to tradition as you will find. Good luck!

St Peter, at least four years ago or so, was pretty traditionalist.

I know there’s a church near Pensacola that does a Latin Mass once a month, no idea which one it is though.

I believe that’s St. Stephen.
