If I attend two masses in one day, can I receive the Body and Blood both times? I’m not ministering as a EM, just attending.

From what I learned in RCIA, you can only partake in Eurcharist once a day, no matter how many times that day you attend Mass.

Yes, you can recieve both times. We are permitted to recieve two times in a day as long as the second time is within the context of attending Mass. We actually can recieve a third time in viaticum if necessary but that would be a rare situation indeed.
Can. 917 One who has received the blessed Eucharist may receive it again on the same day only within a eucharistic celebration in which that person participates, without prejudice to the provision of can. 921 ß2.

I play the piano at one of the older parishes in our city.

The priest told me to go ahead and receive twice. If I were to just sit there without going forward to receive, the people in the congregation might wonder why the pianist wasn’t receiving the Lord.

Makes sense to me.

Also, the priest told me, after playing for two Masses, I need the Lord twice!

Here is what ETWN has on its website…

The Church’s regulations are as follows: A person who has already received the Eucharist may receive it (only) once again on the same day only during a Eucharistic celebration in which the person participates. A person in danger of death who has already received the Eucharist once or twice is urged to receive Communion again as Viaticum. Pope John Paul approved this decision, in accord with Canon 917, and ordered it published July 11, 1984.

No problem with that, but if you were to play for three masses, then you’d have to pick which two you wanted to receive at.

I don’t think you should be worrying about what the congregation thinks. What if you are not disposed to recieve the Eucharist because you need to go to confession? Would you recieve anyway because of what the congregation might think? I hope not. What if a protestant was playing piano at a Catholic church? It happens all the time. Should they present themselves for communion?

Priests can receive 3 times in a day if they are ceklebrating Mass. I don’t know if that also goes for deacons or not?
