I recently came back to the Catholic Church after 35 years of not attending. I talked with the parish priest and he assured me that I was still considered a Catholic and was welcome to participate in the Eurchaist. I went to confession (yes, it took a long time!) and have been taking communion.

However, for the past 15 years I have been living with someone to whom I am not married. I had two marriages to men who abused me and I have made the decision that I do not want to be married again.

Can I still take the Body and Blood of Christ?

In a word- no.
Living with someone is a sin. You should have confessed this sin in Confession, and then promptly moved out.

If you told this to your priest, and he said yes, than you can.

But, if you didn’t, I would refrain from recieving the Eucharist. If, however, you cannot move out because of financial reasons, then you can.

If you can move out, move out fast, because I’m pretty sure that living with someone you are not maried to is a sin. I forget what it’s called though.

I hope that helped.

ceh4041,
This is realy a question you need to pose to your own priest–even in Confession if you prefer. You’re going to get a lot of answers here in the coming days, but regardless of what you read here, you need to talk to your priest, make sure he’s informed of your entire situation, and follow his counsel.

You really need to talk to your priest. We don’t know what you actually said to him nor do we need to know.
Objectively if you have told him everything you should only have received absolution and be able to receive Communion if you told the priest that all sexual relations will stop and you and the man you are living with will life a life of continence.
