Christ is risen!
Христос воскрес!
Χριστὸς ἀνέστη!
!ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܩܡ

Alleluia! Glory to Christ our God!

Let’s hear the diversity of Eastern Catholic chants and hymns from every tradition, every rite, and every culture across the world. What’s your favourite? 🙂

Here is the ultimate praise of God’s victory over death: Psalm 118!

Christ is Risen from the dead!
Christ is Risen from the dead!
Christ is Risen from the dead!
By death he conquered Death!
By death he conquered Death!
And to those in the tombs,
And to those in the tombs,
He granted, he granted,
He granted life!

Christos Voskrese iz mertvych
Smertiu smert poprav
i suščim vo hrobich
život darovav.

(same melody as above)

Receive the Body of Christ!
Drink the source of Imortality
Receive the Body of Christ!
Drink the source of Imortality
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thank you Aramis. The “B” version of the Paschal troparion is my favourite. What a beautiful way of singing the anthem of pure joy!

From Russia, the paschal hirmos to the Theotokos:

youtube.com/watch?v=T8-Xj3MviGE

The Angel cried to the her, Full of Grace:
Rejoice, O Pure Virgin; again, I say: Rejoice!
Your Son is risen from the tomb on the third day, raising all the dead with Him!
Rejoice, all ye people!
Shine, shine, O New Jerusalem,
The glory of the Lord has shone on you.
Exult now and be glad, O Zion,
Be radiant, O Pure Theotokos,
In the Resurrection of your Son!

This is Orthodox, not Eastern Catholic (though I don’t doubt that Coptic Catholics also use it, if they follow the practices of their Orthodox mother church), but here is one of the resurrection hymns we sing in my church, “Ya kul al-sefoof al-sama’een” (All ye heavenly multitudes). We’ve only ever done it in Arabic and English, not Coptic (some hymns are like this, for some reason, where it’s much more rare to find them sung in Coptic, at least in the West), but it sounds nice anyway:

“All ye heavenly multitudes” (English)

“Ya kul al-sefoof” (Arabic)
