Is it wrong to get married and have kids knowing that you have a good chance of passing on a genetic disorder?
I think you answered his question…God Bless you…teachccdI have a genetic disorder. My disorder has no cure and is so dramatic that in a prior time I could have been exhibited in a sideshow. It is apparent to every person who sees me, there is no way to cosmetically disguise it. I am in pain every day, that pain will become worse and I will be more and more disabled as I age - someday, I may be completely wheelchair dependant and reliant on others for personal care.
I have a hard scientific 50% chance of passing this on to any child.
I’m happy my grandmother (first with the condition), my dad and I have all chosen to welcome children, even the imperfect ones.
Thanks - and God Bless you too - I also teach CCDI think you answered his question…God Bless you…teachccd![]()

Is OCD a genetic disorder? Is it wrong to get married and have kids if you have OCD?Is it wrong to get married and have kids knowing that you have a good chance of passing on a genetic disorder?
Oh heavens no. If everyone who had some psychological disorder refrained from getting married the world would become extinct. I have a touch of OCD and my son has OCD to a greater extent and we both get along great. He is the greatest kid and I couldn’t imagine life without him. Yes, OCD is passed on genetically but so are bad looks. Now how many want to stay single for that??Is OCD a genetic disorder? Is it wrong to get married and have kids if you have OCD?
