Hello,

Today my parish is holding two celebrations:

The celebration of the Lord’s Passion and Crucifixion (3pm)
and
The Way of the Cross (7:30pm)

I was just wonder what the difference is and what can I expect from these celebrations?

God Bless.

The Liturgy of the Passion is the official Good Friday liturgy that every church must celebrate, if at all possible. It includes a liturgy of the word that includes the singing or reading of the passion, solemn prayers of the faithful, the veneration of the cross (where the people come forward and kiss the cross), and holy communion.

The Way of the Cross is the celebration of the stations of the cross, probably a larger scale version of the devotion that individuals and parishes have been doing throughout Lent, where the priest or deacon walks from station to station.

Our parish has the same schedule as yours, with a quiet fish dinner in between.

The Way of the Cross is commonly known as Stations of the Cross, which your parish probably has had all during Lent.
