Doing a bit of research into St Gemma Galgani (I have family near Lucca).

Do the Passionists have any lay associations or secular orders associated with them?

Thanks:)

I don’t believe they do.

Generally, lay or 3rd order groups are established for those who desire to live according to the spirituality of that order, while remaining in their current state of life.

From, my member on the Passionists, they were founded by St. Paul of the Cross, and their mission is directed toward retreat ministry.

That being the case, I don’t see how a lay order could follow that particular spirituality.

Thanks Jim 🙂

I find a confraternity, but no 3rd order…

Anyone know for sure?

Yes they have a confraternity ( I have read their statutes)

For anyone interested in the Passionist congregation, please visit our group and the forum right here at CAF. Just click on the link at the bottom of my page, The Passionists! and you can find alot of information on them.

The Passionists do not have a third order, not because St. Paul of the Cross did not want one, but being a congregation with simple vows, they are not allowed to have one. The Church had just stopped the creation of Orders when St. Paul of the Cross tried to make the Passionists one, so they became a congregation instead. The Confraternity of the Passion these days does much of what a third order would do, and their are also other lay organizations attached to the congregation. I am a confraternity member and am lucky enough to be able to attend their meetings and functions. The Passionists have changed my life.🙂

I do not see a link to the confraternity. I would like to know how to become a member also. Are there any links to join the confraternity?

Thank you for the link, but how do I apply, it does not have a link for application?

Do you think you could send me a link for the statutes? Thanks 😃

Also, anyone who wants to join the Confraternity can e-mail Fr. Lucian Clark C.P.
If you’d like his e-mail, just PM me and I will give it. Once you join, they send you the Black Scapular of the Passion along with some booklets on Passionist saints(Maria Goretti, Gabriel Possenti, Gemma Galgani).
