Passover question

I was just wondering what happened to the souls of the innocent Egyptian children who were taken up at the Passover. Were they taken to Heaven? They didn’t have a chance to hear about God, so what happened? Also: Is there really an angel of death, or was that just a term used by God to give a visiual of the power of His Hand?

I would presume that the same thing happened to the souls of the innocent Egyptian kids killed during the first Passover as happens to the souls of all people who die before the age of reason. Similarly, the older firstborn sons who died without the Law were judged without the Law (as in Romans 2:14-16). I don’t think their dying at the hand of the Angel of Death makes a difference.
