Past Rosaries I've Prayed

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I just have a question about rosaries that I’ve prayed previously.
About 2 years ago I decided to pray the rosary and began to say it everyday. I would offer up intentions for myself and others as I prayed. I thought I was doing well by having a close prayer life with the Lord while asking Mary to intercede for me. However, (although I feel bad not knowing this before) I found out a few months ago that the main reason to pray the rosary was to meditate on the mysteries while praying. Well, all those times that I prayed the rosary, I never meditated or thought about the mysteries. Because of this, I am wondering, were my prayers worth anything to God? Did he accept them? Or were they just meaningless repititions that I recited over and over again? I am confused.

Also, are there any ways that you can reccommend so that I can begin praying the rosary (or some other prayer(s))again? I am afraid that I’ve had quite a lax prayer life lately and I really want to get back to it as I think it is a wonderful devotion.

God is our loving Father. Our prayer life with him is just like time we spend with our parents and/or children. What loving father would not cherish times spent with his child? I have five daughters and seven grandchildren – and currently live very far from them all. So every moment that I speak with them is precious. So it is with our heavenly Father.
Further, what caring father doesn’t want to know what his children are thinking and/or doing? So when we lift up our thoughts and intentions in prayer, it’s like answering that age old question, “Daughter (or Son), what’s on your mind?”
A few years ago, I discovered a devotion that is one of Pope Francis’s favorite devotions: Our Lady Undoer of Knots. For me, this new devotion has opened up new areas of spirituality and meditation. Perhaps it can help you restart your prayer life.

Of course they were meaningful.

Eastern Christians who pray the Rosary specifically do not meditate, we just pray the prayers from the heart.

I will definitely take a look into the Our Lady Undoer of Knots devotion. I have heard of it but I have not discovered it further yet. Thank you ver much for your thoughts.

Thank you for the reassurance. I feel more at ease now. Also, I never knew that Eastern Christians don’t meditate during the rosary. Good to know. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Your rosaries were heard. When I started as a child praying the Rosary, I didn’t meditate on the mysteries. I just focused on praying the prayers. It wasn’t until I was a teen that I even thought about the mysteries and not until I was an adult that I made a serious try to meditate on them while praying. Rosary is an evolving skill. Mary and Jesus appreciate the prayers regardless of what “level” you are at.

You might want to try praying the Rosary along with one of the Rosary videos on Youtube - there are a lot, and some of them feature very nice stained glass windows, religious art, or the pleasant accent of Venerable Fr. Patrick Peyton the “Rosary Priest”.

Other devotions you might try to say:

• The Angelus, said at 6 am, noon, and 6 pm: it’s quite short, and I set alarms on my phone to go off and make me pray the prayer at the right hours.
• The Divine Mercy chaplet, which you say on a regular rosary. It’s quite easy, takes a little less time than the Rosary, and you don’t have to meditate on anything during it.
• A novena from Praymorenovenas.com . They will send the daily prayer to your e-mail in box every day.
