I don’t see the connection between Benny Hinn being tried for fraud and his meeting with the Cardinal. Aren’t cardinals supposed to meet with all people, even those we think guilty of crimes? Or am I wrong about that?

Having a member of the papal court attend is a disgrace. Hinn (who happens to be a Palestinian, but worships Israel like the rest of his ilk) is an arch-heretic and deserves to be in jail for fraud.

Yes, Hinn is an abomination certainly. But the Cardinal is not encouraging his smarmy side show. He prayed. Likely a top secrect methold of excorsism that we rank and file are unaware of. Its possible. Maybe this was the only way for us to get a DNA sample somehow of Hinn so we know what Satan’s DNA is like… Just random thoughts now, not being too serious here
I will stand by the Cardinal until I have reason to doubt his loyalty. If Benedict has not found fault in him yet, I dont think my puny brain will find something HE missed…

Bones, I agree. But a friend who belongs to an evangelical group allegedly coming under the umbrella of the C of E, fell out with me at my suggestion that the CC objects to his teachings on a number of issues, which the CC regards as erronious.

Can someone fill me in on Benny Hinn and why he is so disliked? I’ve only seem him a few times but he seems rather harmless? Don’t jump on me too hard- like I said, I’ve only seem him a few times!

I would also suggest you check the newspapers soon as it appears he may be in the headlines soon with a slew of criminal defense attorneys from the looks of things. Wiki has stuff, I have an article somewhere about how he was originally a Greek Orthodox who went off the rails and became a famous heretic. He is a man who is spirit filled and annointin healin’ the world!
I’ll see if I can dig up some of the “poop” on Hinn. Its all over the web. Even non Catholic Christians have scathing articles on Hinn. He is generally found less credible than the national inquirerer. But, you should make up your own mind.

He’s disliked because he tries to convince people with ailments and disabilities that he can heal them using the power of the holy spirit while at the same time convincing them to give him all their money in which he immerses himself in a rich and lavish lifestyle.

.The Cardinal should not meet with him in such a public way. Eating with sinners, talking with other religions, surely this is a good thing, but this smacks of a stunt on Hinn’s part to again pony up with the Church for ‘cred’. He did it with PPII’s funeral, he ran with that like a wild fire for weeks on his show, even had two priest’s on his show to ‘discuss’ it. He is attaching himself to the largest, most widely known Christian religion. He has everything to gain. We can suppose that he has no plans to convert to Catholicism, so what can be gained by this except him gaining a perceived association to the Church. This is nothing more than a parasitic move. This is not good, since so many people are already confused about him. He leads many astray. Scripture also warns us to avoid that!!!

If there was hope for this man, there is hope for Hinn, too. After all, a grave sinner doesn’t go to hell unless he dies unrepentant. So, let’s pray for him!
