Pastors and Porn. What a world this is becoming

Ethically sourced porn? What does that mean? Would a person’s addiction to porn be any less if the porn was produced ethically? People are struggling with this addiction daily, for years, and decades even. Along comes a new Eve dangling forbidden fruit. . . “Here, use this, it’s ok. . . It’s ethically produced”. I don’t think so.

So, there shouldn’t be shame in degradation of women and treating human beings like they’re objects?

There are people who consume pornography in a shame-based way, it would be horrible if people know because they are those who are morally outraged as Liberals or Conservatives. That’s a lonely place to exist, let’s take that part out of it. I’m not going to shame people when they already feel ashamed.”
How is shame alleviated? By a pat on the back? That can be part of it for sure.

How about the hard work of reforming one’s mind, one’s heart, and one’s life? That’s the answer to shame.
She recommends anything but the hard work of self discipline.

She’s pretty fringe, even for an ELCA Pastor. Reading some of her views is… interesting. Yikes.

Ah she’s a Lutheran, why am I not surprised? After all they embrace homosexuality too. No thank you, I’ll stick to the one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church that Jesus Christ founded.

I’m kind of thinking this should be in the Non-Catholic forum.

No, she is not Lutheran. Lutherans are defined by their faithfulness to a shared confession. Her views deny the faith defined by that confession, hence she is an apostate by definition. I would say the term Lutheran is not representative of her, any more than the term Catholic is to a legislator who votes to allow for the abortion of babies up to and including the time of birth.

That doesn’t change the fact also the Lutheran Church has embraced homosexuality. Wouldn’t exactly call that being faithful to the teachings of Our Lord.

I know the Lutheran Church for a fact embraces homosexuality. I know a lesbian married couple who are Lutherans, and were married at their Lutheran church. The Lutheran churches in my city all fly gay pride flags outside their edifices they like to call churches too.

The ELCA church has. Not the LCMS or WELS, or other Confessional Lutheranism denominations that condemn the ELCA’s stance on it.

As Fauken stated, you are painting with a broad brush. The ELCA as a body is an apostate body that has essentially rejected the Lutheran Confessions. The Lutheran Confessional bodies that hold to the confessions that define the beliefs of Lutheranism all condemn homosexuality as a sinful behavior. I would also point out that the Catholic Church, to her shame, has been taking on an increasingly soft stance on this issue. Case in point:

This isn’t a struggle of any single denomination, this issue is impacting the entire Church, Catholic and Protestant.

There are so many different Protestant denominations, I just can’t keep up these days.

That’s okay, there are lots of heterodox teachings within Rome as well. I can’t keep it straight either. Sin is sin no matter whose name is on the Church.

Even most Lutherans I know think the ELCA are total garbage… I guess I see where they’re coming from now. Gotta feel bad for the people she preaches to, let’s hope they aren’t taught things like this.

In any case it’s doubtful that Martin Luther would have shared this pastor’s sentiments.

We don’t go by self proclaimed prophets and their false teachings. The Bible tells Timothy to stay with the teaching of the Catholic Church

Since the article has so little about her, I looked her up. It seems she is a former Lutheran pastor, an currently is pastor of a congregation she started. This should be written off as, One in every crowd, " or possible the beginning of a cult. There seems to be nothing Christian in it.
