Looking at this strickly from a football point of view. I firmly believe that John Elway immediately seen a great opportunity and jumped on it. Without a doubt Peyton Manning is a franchise player. And a good arguement could be made as the best QB in the game.
To me its a win-win situation.
The Jets come out ahead also. While some may like or dislike Rex Ryan one fact basically remains true. They have been a playoff contender since he arrived. And the lacking spot for three years has been Mark Sanchez being inconsistant, if not outright choking.
While I don’t see Tebow running around the NFL fields for many years, I do see him having an immediate impact “if” he stays heathly. And I do not see any choke in this young man.
With great athletes theres a constant. They always want the ball in crucial situations. And Tebow fits right in that catagory. Great athelete doesn’t equate always to great QB though. Being a great passing QB in the NFL and history is an entirely different reality. One I would say Peyton Manning has just about reached the pinacle of. And may well see another SB victory at Denver. With John Elway their he’ll thrive. You’ll see no more QB running at Denver though. All drop back passing now.
I think Sanchez will start to begin with, and Tebow will be alternating series right from the start. The 4th quarter in tight games will be the determining factor on who ends up being the starting QB. Another fact is Mark Sanchez will have pressure now to perform in the late stages of the game. Tebow excels in this situation. I see a better Jet team this year for sure.
The Jets also picked up 2 other young QBs, one who won a National Championship at Alabama so the draft picks they lost will end up a wash when the QB situation is resolved. Personally I believe they ought to trade Sanchez right now before his value becomes lessened this season.
