Your anti-male tone is rather saddening. .
I don’t think JackieMom has any anti-male tone at all. She is focused on the welfare of the child, the innocent person here. When the married wife has sex with a man other than her husband, there are two sinners here. Both are wrong. This is not anti-male or anti-female. It is anti-sin.

Exactly. In that case, both adulterers must put their own feelings and desires aside and do ONLY what is in the best interest of the innocent child. I am appalled and offended by the idea that men would place their desire for access to a child before that child’s welfare. That is not a “real man” to me. And honestly, if the situation worked out that the baby should be placed with the father and his wife (let’s say she was more willing to adopt the baby as her own than the woman’s husband) that would be fine too. Kid deserves an intact family, bottom line.

Ummm…if you read her earlier posts they are definitely anti-male. She went on a feminist diatribe about past perceived crimes and when I challenged her she evaded.

I think doing what is best for the child should come first. I also believe however her tone is a lot more forgiving to the woman than the man. That is a clear sign of female ego! Look, guys have put women in bad positions and they have to be accountable for that but so do women. Our justice system is much more lenient on women for the same crime. That is a result of political correctness instigated by feminism. Feminism is about retribution and making the male pay for the crimes of other males.

I am also deeply offended that she thinks men’s rights are “laughable” as she put it. Men are human beings too and the system does not favor us as much as her feminist heroines have instructed her. Paternity fraud is the example I gave here originally. Another perfect example of this is male rape. The FBI refuses to admit that men can even be raped. Look at this article tampabay.com/news/courts/article1183449.ece. Here a young man was statutorily raped and now expected to pay child support? What about teh 15 year old raped by a 34 year old woman? How do those “powerful white men” help this guy out? If it was a man that did this he would have been lynched the same day by the girls parents and police. Also, what about false rape? theforensicexaminer.com/archive/spring09/15/ A woman can destroy a man’s life and reputation very easily. This exact thing happened with those boys from Duke University years back. Even though the boys were acquitted because that woman confessed to lying she never got charged with any crime and their reputations are now ruined. Yes, it was stupid of them to go looking for those services but they didn’t deserve to have their reputations ruined anymore than a woman who doesn’t deserve to be raped because she dresses immodestly.

The problem with feminism is it is the same garbage elitist men peddled that led to the abuse of women. What makes it even worse is women like JackieMom refuse to hold women to same standard they hold men to. They also use children as a justification for whatever action they take. Men’s rights are about keeping feminism in check. Any entity that grows unchecked will eventually become tyrannical. Some women think women can’t be tyrants but as they say, absolute power corrupts absolutely. If women had “been in control” in the past they would have done the same as men because that is what power does to ones head. It swells it!

If I cheated on my husband (I would never), and I got pregnant, I feel confident that I could tell my husband and we would come together to raise the child as our own. We’d probably move away so that the “bio dad” could not intervene. I don’t think that’s unfair AT ALL.
:rotfl: Jackie, me, too! I would do the SAME! (Also I would NEVER cheat. I think I can say so confidently since I had good motive for a lot of years.) This is funny to me because I know you will get pounced on for saying so but I hope you stick to you guns in this hypothetical scenario like a rottweiler because you are RIGHT.

But if I had a decent husband like you and most importantly other kids, yes I would do the same because this is the right thing to do.

I think what bothers me about over-zealous focus on “father’s rights” is it reminds me of “homosexual parenting rights”. The focus is all wrong there. Its about what is best for the kids. Not about the parents and their right to have one, or to parent one.

What you would do in that hypothetical situation is best for the child. Its what every child wants. ONE Mom and ONE Dad, living in the same home. That two-home thing is a sad necessity in so many cases (and became my case).

Don’t forget in your hypothetical situation there were TWO adulterers involved, and when a man engages in that, he should accept he may very well be giving up his choice to parent his child. Because he did this one wrong. And anyway, if he is a REAL man, he would WANT whats best for that child. Someday when the child is grown and settled he could be told, and meet his genetic father.

Yep, that’s me! The Santorum-voting, vehemently pro-life, super happily married, stay at home mother of amazing superhero-obsessed boys! Such a radical feminist

I can’t speak for Nimzkov but let me be clear. I am NOT putting the child’s welfare below the the biological fathers. All I was getting at was a woman’s husband has a right to know if he is or isn’t the father so he can CHOOSE whether or not he wants to father the child. It would be noble of him to do so. It is also responsible of the wife to say she had an affair for 2 reasons. The first is that she has now exposed her husband to STDs. He has a right to protect his body from being harmed which could impair his ability to provide for his family. The second is if the other man comes after his family he needs to know what to be on the look out for. My point was it is simply unjust to keep ones husband in the dark about ones affair.

Lastly, we made a lot of assumptions here. We’ve assumed the woman wants the child and the man wants the child. There is no reason why either should be given preference since their sin is equal. Of coarse in the hypothetical scenario we don’t know if the other man has an accepting wife or not. If both parties were accepting I do not see a reason why the woman should be given preference. Giving a woman preference when a man is willing to take responsibility is no different than giving a man preference for a job when a woman is equally qualified. This is why the law usually gets involved. I see no reason to continue to debate this but I did want to bring up the issue that women do harm men with their actions despite what some people have said here.

Exactly. The fact that both bio parents made a hideous choice does not diminish the child’s right to a proper, intact home. And, since the woman is the one who carries the child, who is visibly pregnant to the world, assumes the risk and cost of the pregnancy, births the child and nurses the child it only makes sense that the intact family to whom the child should belong would be hers. If her husband refuses, the baby should be quickly adopted by the father and his wife. Intact home life is the priority - NOT adult’s feelings.

Of course I would. How do you punish a child for the sins of his parents. I’d be happy to have my husband’s “affair baby” come live with us as one of our children if that was what was best. Furious with my husband - yes. Furious with the child? Of course not. My grandmother did this very thing when her husband fathered a child during a brief separation. What kind of beastly woman would reject a baby that her husband fathered?
I am the same with you on this and I think you and I are not extra-special, but just normal women. Of course there are women below-normal who would not do this.

Its a real shame certain young men on this thread seem to think below-normal women represent normal. They should realize their own personal experience with women is unfortunate, but not normal, and that there is a world of *real *women out there.

Of course, the child in this situation would be less-fortunate than the one who never knew his genetic father. The latter knew his parent-father from the womb, heard his voice, knew his love and when he was born he turned his head towards that familiar voice he knew from within his mother’s womb.

The child going to live with his genetic father and his wife has been taken from/rejected by the mother who bore him nine months, so he started his life with a terrible wound. He likely did not get to know his fathers or new mother’s voice because the three parents likely spent little time together while the birth mother was pregnant. This is a wound, and this is the world with sin in it, so, it happens. But going to a 2 parent intact home is healing, and the love of the new parents is healing, too.

You don’t own the child because you gave birth to him/her. Giving life to a human being is an act of selfless love and as such you should not be seeking benefit from it.

You are totally right. It’s about what’s good for the child, not the adults involved. Every parent knows that from the moment those two pink lines appear, your life is no longer about you, your needs and desires, your goals or your comfort. It’s kids first. And kids deserve an intact home.

All that tells me is you are a female supremacist that thinks a man’s only purpose on this Earth is to put you a pedestle and worship you because you uterus makes you more valuable than him. Feminism and traditional conservatives differ only in their approach. One wants their cake and to eat it too (liberal feminists) and the other just wants the cake (traditional conservatives)…of coarse all provided for by men! Thanks for nothing ladies!

And that means a man should have an equal shot at fathering the child you helped him create. It doesn’t matter what risk you assumed because you knew the risk BEFORE you cheated and conceived. Therefore you have no more of a right to raise the child than the man who biologically fathered him/her. When you give a man access to you body you cannot take it back from him. Likewise a man does the same.

Kids deserve an intact home but they also deserve the knowledge of their actual origin, or at least deserve not to be lied to. There are some justifications in moral theology for not telling a husband or child about the biological father but they fail to address the lying involved in calling them “your father”, “your son” etc., which seems practically impossible to avoid.
That’s noble of you but you would always have that choice. A man could be completely fooled without ever knowing it. I think the real question is would a woman be human enough to admit she messed up. For many I think the answer is no.
An awful situation. Raising the child is one thing, covering up and lending one’s surname and seeing, for example, the agnatic seniority in one’s family (let alone stuff like nobility titles, crowns, majorate estates inherited undivided by the eldest son etc.) inherited by a person not biologically descended over actual biological heirs is a different thing.

That’s harsh and wrong. Jackie said nothing to indicate she felt that way. That’s a sick twist of her words. You must have some serious issues. Serious ones! Coming on here and accusing her of being a “female supremacist”?? That has nothing to do with Jackie from what she has written here. And I am pretty sure name-calling is against the forum rules.

Don’t worry, Jackie, its not usually like this on CAF. I am surprised they aren’t kicked off yet.

Don’t you read anything she wrote? Its not about who gets a “shot” at the child. Its about what the child most needs.
  • Whats best for the child.* It supersedes any genetic parent “rights” or anyone’s right to have a “shot at” being a parent.
So many grownups are like kids these days. Kids saying “gimme mine!” A real adult lays down his life for another.
I think the real question is would a woman be human enough to admit she messed up.
Hmm. Very telling. silentfactor80, it sounds like you don’t think much of women.

"JackieMom:
Some men are “mere seed.” Maybe the kind that sleep with a married woman. Maybe the kind that would demand partial custody of a baby that could otherwise be born into an intact family and never know the difference, just because he “wants” to see his baby - regardless of how healthy that would be for the child and his family.

I find the term “men’s rights” quite laughable. After thousands of years subjugating women, treating them as property, denying their human rights, prohibiting them from voting and owning land, being allowed to beat them, to rape them without consequence, denying them education and status in society, and enjoying and taking advantage of the freedom and perks that come with being the gender that does not carry and birth and nurse babies - women finally speak up for their equality and demand fair treatment and the so-called “men’s rights groups” pop up. Uh huh.

Did you not read her earlier posts? When she claimed men in general used to treat women like property ages ago I countered with “SOME men did that but not all.” She replied with “it wasn’t just some men.” St. Joseph surely didn’t do that to Mary! Neither did many other men! She made a generalization about men that was offensive!

Also, who says that the unfaithful wife is what is best for the child?!?! That is my point! An unfaithful wife who gets pregnant is no more fit to raise the child than the unfaithful man! That was my point!

Lastly, I don’t think very much of women who don’t think very much of men. That may not sound very Catholic of me but as a human being equal in dignity to any woman I should be respected as such. I am not some woman’s tool to disrespect, use, and abuse. When a man agrees to marry a woman he makes himself vulnerable to her. If she does not appreciate that or respect that then there isn’t much I can say for her. I always here about how men should treat women but women never care about how a woman should treat a man.

How does moral theology justify not telling ones husband about the biological father? A woman puts a man at risk for disease and financial ruin. He can have his entire lively hood taken away by such a transgression and you think moral theology is ok with this??? Who wrote this moral theology? “Catholic” feminists?

Well you are no longer in a position to complain. You did the same thing.

Would you like to have been lied to all your life? Would you like to have never met your other parent, and instead have been told your one parent + step-parent were your biological parents?

I think this is the exact opposite of homosexual parenting rights. It is about the child’s right to know and be supported by the people who created her.
All I was getting at was a woman’s husband has a right to know if he is or isn’t the father so he can CHOOSE whether or not he wants to father the child… If both parties were accepting I do not see a reason why the woman should be given preference. As a feminist, I agree. I’d like to see fewer assumptions based on gender (women are gentler, men are more abusive, women make better parents, men are natural providers) and more equality.
Kids deserve an intact home but they also deserve the knowledge of their actual origin, or at least deserve not to be lied to.
Precisely. Children conceived under less-than-ideal circumstances (adultery, rape, one-night stands, ART via donor gametes) should not have fewer rights than other children. All children have a right to know the two people who created them and be supported by them (of course, not necessarily be raised by them). This does not mean that an obviously unfit person will automatically gain access to his or her biological child (e.g., a rapist), but even an unfit parent should have responsibility (e.g. rapists have been forced to pay child support) and the child has a right to information about them as part of knowledge of their identity.
