I’m just curious to ask what people think of the Maronite Patriarch’s recent itinerary. It was understandable when he travelled to South America at length because there’s a large Maronite population there but I’m sure what to think about his travels in Eastern Europe like to Poland and Romania (which, judging by the photos, are not pastoral visits). Any thoughts?

It’s a little fuzzy in my memory, but wasn’t that Poland trip around the same time as the enthronement of the Chaldean Catholicos-Patriarch?

He also visited India not so long ago. Still no visit to Australia…

Exactly, I guess I’m alluding to why go to these places where there are virtually no Maronites when he’s still to visit extant eparchies?

Remember that the visit to Mor Basilos Cleemis was by personal invitation. Hard to turn that down from a fellow newly-named Cardinal. And this visit to Bucharest was to dedicate a new church where we had no presence. I suppose that makes sense, too.

It bothers me far more is that he was absent from the enthronement of Mar Louis-Rafael as Catholicos-Patriarch. I guess it was more important for him to be in Rome for pre-conclave politicking. 🤷

I wasn’t aware of that. Did the rest of the EC patriarchs attend?
Moran Mor Ignatios Yousef was there, along with HB Gregory III. Have a look [thread=761992]here[/thread] (note post #24 among others) for a better accounting of who was present. 😉
