Patriarch of Antioch (SOC), Ignatius Zakka passed away today in Germany.
May his holiness rest in peace.

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
Code:
May he rest in peace. Amen.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

May his memory be eternal!

Btw, Metr. Philip of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese has also fallen asleep in the Lord. May his memory, too, be eternal! antiochian.org/

Let us pray for our Syriac Orthodox and Jacobite brothers they have truly lost a great leader.

With prayers for his soul and the souls of all who have died and for those who mourn their loss. - Joe K.

May God grant him rest with the righteous and the just in the abodes of His Father.

Lord have mercy. As we pray in the Basilian and Cyrillian liturgies for the faithful departed, may the soul of HH Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas be reposed in the bosom of our holy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, be sustained in green pastures, by the water of rest in the paradise of joy, the place out of which grief, sorrow and groaning have fled away, in the light of Your saints.

May the soul of HH be received with peace and joy among all our holy and righteous Orthodox fathers who now intercede for us before the throne of God, praising together with the cherubim and the seraphim the Creator of All to Whom we cry out in these times of great sadness, knowing that there is no death for His servants, but a departure. Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has expressed great sadness at the passing away of His Holiness Mar Ignatius Zakka I Iwas (1933-2014), Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and the supreme head of the Syrian Orthodox Church.
Archbishop Justin said: “We thank God for the extraordinary life and witness of His Holiness and pray for the Syrian Orthodox Church at this time of mourning and uncertainty. His Holiness will be sorely missed. We also continue to remember His Eminence Metropolitan Yohanna Ibrahim of Alleppo, who has been missing along with His Eminence Metropolitan Boulos since April 2013 and seek the mercy of Christ for his safe release.
“Christians across the Middle East are coping under immense suffering and trials. Their steadfastness is one of deep inner conviction, commitment and faith. They are bearing the cross on a daily basis without fear and announcing the Good News in word and deed. We thank God for this faithful witness, which is a blessing to the whole world, a message that Christ in our midst will help overcome the trials, distress and hardship that face us.”
His Holiness was known for his enduring ministry in very difficult and trying circumstances, and made important contributions to ecumenical dialogue. He was a member of different Eastern and Western Academies and the author of a number of books on Christian education, theology, history, and culture in the Syriac, Arabic and English languages.
