That’s an idea that at first seems bold but the more I think of it makes sense.Metropolitan Volodymyr has had a tremendous job of keeping the pro-Ukrainian and pro-Moscow factions of the UOC-MP in check and, in my view, he has done an excellent job throughout his tenure as Primate. I pray he recovers soon and returns to fully active ministry as Metropolitan (he would make an excellent autocephalous Patriarch to unite all Ukrainians - yes, even UGCCers who would like an end to the division that the Union of Brest caused etc.).

The last sentence was most interesting. Care to elaborate? It was a very courteous and proper thing for His Beatitude Svyatoslav to do - good for him.
In the background is Archbishop Alexandr Drabynko who is Metropolitan Volodymyr’s right-hand man - he was recently punished by the UOC-MP Synod for a number of infractions and was removed, I believe, from the membership of the Synod. A number of observers have said that this has to do with a perceived attempt by the Moscow Patriarchate to exercise greater control over the UOC-MP - I don’t know.
