My son is in rehab for heroin addiction. In 2 days he will be 6 months clean 🙂 I would like to get him a necklace with a saint charm. What saint would be fitting for him while he is going through recovery. Prayers are appreciated. Thank you.

St. Maximilian Kolbe. Patron saint of addicts.
God bless!

Venerable Matt Talbot Prayer for Addiction

God of mercy, we bless you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who ministers to all who come to Him. Give your strength to Swiles’ son, who is bound by the chains of addiction. Enfold him in your love and restore him to freedom through your grace.
Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and have broken relationships because of their attachment to the object of their addiction. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy, and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To those who care for them, grant patient understanding and a love that perseveres.

Lord, in your servant, Venerable Matt Talbot you have given us a wonderful example of triumph over addiction, of devotion to duty, and of lifelong reverence to the Holy Sacrament. May his life of prayer and penance give Swiles’ son courage to take up his/her cross and follow in the footsteps of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Father, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Maximilian Kolbe, who died of lethal injection at Auschwitz, is a patron of drug addicts.

You can easily find holy cards and medallions for both of these holy men.

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins my Mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of thy Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer me.
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee;
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

I agree with njlisa who suggested Venerable Matt Talbot. An excellent choice.

Prayer to Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe

St. Maximilian, amidst the hate and lonely misery of Auschwitz, you brought love into the lives of fellow captives and sowed the seeds of hope amidst despair. You bore witness to the world by word and deed that “Love alone creates.” Help me to become more like you. With the Church and Mary and you, may I proclaim that “Love alone creates.” To the hungry and oppressed, the naked and homeless, the scorned and hated, the lonely and despairing, may I proclaim the power of Christ’s love, which endures forever and ever. Amen.

Praying to St. Maximilan Kolbe for your son’s health & recovery.

St. Maximilian Kolbe and Ven. Matt Talbot, pray for us!

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to his assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
