Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a patron saint for eye health or vision?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

There are several listed at catholicforum.com/saints/pst00269.htm . The one I have heard of most often is St. Lucy.

Aloysius Gonzaga
Augustine of Hippo
Clare of Assisi
Cyriacus
Deochar
Erhard of Regensburg
Herve
Leodegarius
Lucy of Syracuse
Odilia
Raphael the Archangel
Symphorian of Autun

St Lucy is the one most often invoked, in paintings she is often seen holding a dish with her eyes on it, alluding to the manner of her martyrdom.
St Raphael the Archangel is also invoked because he cured Tobit’s blindness.

St Lucy is the patron for those who are blind or suffer from diseases of the eye, because here eyes were plucked out during her martyrdom. Old statues of her often depict her holding her eyeballs, presumably offering her suffering up to the Lord.

Thanks for your posts. I really appreciate it! St. Lucy is very inspiring!

Sincerely,

Maria1212
