Hi. Some of you may know that I have been struggling with masturbation since last January, and I wanted to know, if one exists, who the patron saint of those struggling with masturbation is?

If no such saint exists, then is there any saint whose patronage is similar to this?

Any answers would be appreciated. Masturbation is the only mortal sin I ever commit, so if I kick it, then I will grow closer to God.

God bless you for answering my question. :blessyou:

St. Mary of Egypt is the patron saint of chastity, particularly “warfare against the flesh” and “deliverance from carnal passions” (catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=398).

St. Augustine (of Hippo), while he is not the patron saint of chastity, he is known for his great conversion from a life of loose living to become one of the greatest saints of the faith. It’s detailed more in “Confessions”. (catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=418)

My personal saints to pray to for chastity are Mary, Mother of God and St. Maria Goretti.

St. Augustine is a good saint for men struggling with carnal lust. Read his book titled Confessions. He struggled with it for years and years until he was given the grace to overcome it.

St. Thomas Aquinas is good for the opposite reason. He was extremely chaste his entire life. There exists a confraternity you can join called the Angelic Confraternity, which is devoted to St. Thomas and maintaining chastity.

Patrons saints for chastity are St Thomas Aquinas, St Agnes, St Joseph, St Vitus, and St Aloysius Gonzaga.
And of course the Blessed Virgin.

Having struggled with this, I prayed for the Holy Family to intercede/grant Grace for me to respect the body God gave me. St Joseph, Our Blessed Mother and Jesus.

Just as Rete said, the Angelic Warfare Confraternity of St. Thomas Aquinas is designed specifically to help fighting against impurity. I HIGHLY recommend joining it. At the very least, look through the information and catechesis on its website run by the Dominicans:

I couldn’t find a Dominican priest within hundreds of miles to do it. I have the packet for it, but no real way to join them. But, yeah, if you do have access to the Dominicans, that’s a really good confraternity to join. The Holy Rosary Confraternity is a good one too (which you can easily join as well).
