This may be an odd question but is there a patron saint for those who suffer from arachnophobia or fear of spiders? See I have no problem with spiders when they are outside in nature, but I had the misfortune of being visited by a huge black spider, hopefully not a black widow, on my bed right around bed time.

So now I have a fear of living in my room, lying on my bed, and just sleeping in general. I know, it’s ridiculous, but brown recluses and black widows are common in this state and I don’t want to be bitten. I’m not a fan of having a spider visit me before bedtime, let alone in the shower either.

I was thinking of invoking the intercession of the 14 Holy Helpers. Any thoughts?

Well, I don’t know about that. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of a fear of snakes and Saint Dymphna is the pateon saint of mental disease (which isn’t what you have at all, but a similar subject-the mind).

Hope this helps! May God bless you! 🙂

I tried to look for you if there is a Patron for fear of spiders…

St Gratus of Aosta is the Patron of fear of insects

Seems St Felix is the Patron of spiders

St Veronica Giuliani used to eat them (as a penance) … Ew.

St Dymphna is the Patron Saint of all worries, fears and anxieties.

St. Gratus of Aosta, pray for us that such vile things may not torment us! May we find sin as detestable as those grotesque creatures.

I think you could pray to St. Francis, since he had such a great love for all the animals and nature. Spiders are not so bad. There are not many that will bite you just for spite, but rather in self-defense, it seems, when they are threatened in some way. 🙂

I would say on a general note to allay this fear:

Simply trust in the Providence of God. They are God’s spiders, you know. Surely there are very few that have a personal vendetta against you. 😛
