I would read that over and over again… definitely, magazine material… You should do it and it more than likely will be accepted, if not then they are missing out… 👍
 
Hello Lief! What a nice story about your conversion. I’m a convert too! Yippie! On two counts! I’m also an artist, amatuer, but I try. I found your experience with the art in France moving you in a spiritual way grand!!! And it is funny how your mind was touched by the pictures that remained with you. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and it seems you’re living proof. Something in them said something to your heart your mind couldn’t get clear. Powerful stuff!

I understand why most Protestant churches refuse religious art. It might get to their congregants and convert them, so they chuck it all! It makes me sad when I go to a Catholic Church and find bare walls.

The soon to be someday saint John Paul II was a supporter of the arts. He understood what art can do.

For me in my conversion, one of the most moving experiences was realizing I had a Mother and her name was Mary. Letting myself love her was all God wanted for me. it pleased Him to love her! It was awesome. Still is. Letting go of one’s heart is a very scarry thing. But I did and never looked back!

I don’t know about the magazine thing. That might make me arrogant. The more real (though less cool) reason I’m hesitating is that I’m a bit lazy, though :p.

The arrogance thing does make me hesitate, though, actually, some. I’ll give it more thought at some point. Sorry for giving such a lousy reply :D.

GailMac, I agree about loving the Virgin :D. So beautiful. That’s really wonderful how you came into that relationship through realizing God wanted you to love Mary, and came to receive her as your Mother :).

Catholic art can indeed be highly emotionally moving. What really got me about the pieces of art I saw was not the beauty of the art but the fact that I received these as representations of the Catholic faith, instantly after praying to God for a sign as to whether Protestantism or Catholicism were true. The impact of these signs as answered prayers coming instantly after my voice rose to Heaven was what made me feel God was speaking.

The beauty of the art itself is something that has sunk in more in the aftermath, as I think back about the images God has specifically given to me to guide me and meditate on them.

You may bring a soul to Christ! Do it for Jesus. If you are concerned it may make you arrogant, publish the article under a pseudonym.

Your testimony could inspire someone to consider the Catholic faith, or even better than that, it may convince someone to convert!

I forgot in my earlier post that I often ask St. Ann for her intersessions on behalf of my wife, who is pregnant.
 
Ok I have narrowed mine down to two. They are very closely connected together for me.

St. Anthony

I have a first class relic of Fr. Seelos and I ask for his intercession all the time. And I pray to St. Anthony when i lose Fr. Seelos!! 😃 (the relic, I am a forgetful person don’t blame me) With St. Anthony I always find Fr. Seelos again!!!😛
