Catholic art can indeed be highly emotionally moving. What really got me about the pieces of art I saw was not the beauty of the art but the fact that I received these as representations of the Catholic faith, instantly after praying to God for a sign as to whether Protestantism or Catholicism were true. The impact of these signs as answered prayers coming instantly after my voice rose to Heaven was what made me feel God was speaking.
The beauty of the art itself is something that has sunk in more in the aftermath, as I think back about the images God has specifically given to me to guide me and meditate on them.
