Patron Saints for Those with Gender Dysphoria?

Last year, i met a student in my youth group who revealed to me that he struggled with gender dysphoria that had only gotten worse since puberty. He is trying to live a holy life and remain the gender he was born with, but it is really hard. I was wondering if there are any patron saints for this with Gender dysphoria, or any saints (or even Catholics not sainted but who are good examples) who have struggled with it? I am here for him, though in a limited capacity bc I have since moved, but I think it might help for him to know someone else has struggled with this too and persevering is not impossible.

Not that I’m aware of.
Refer him to St. Dymphna. She’s powerful and a peace bringer.
 
Telling someone with gender dysphoria to pray to a Saint for Mental Disorders may not go over well.
 
I believe St. Joesph would be a great Saint to approach for this intention. He never lets downe those in need.
 
Why? She’s for anyone who is troubled.
I didn’t say he was mentally ill. She went through trauma. She’s a great saint for ANYONE
 
Tell him to pray to mother Mary, she lived a life she did not choose, but did God’s will.
 
I would suggest the Blessed Mother, especially in her capacity as Our Lady Undoer of Knots. I’m currently praying the Novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots and have found the prayers so very helpful for bringing calm in the midst of the stresses and tangles in my life. If you can’t find a copy, PM me and I will mail you my book for your student.
 
This kind of stuff does not just go away easily. Praying to a saint is good, but this will not replace professional counseling.
 
He might like St. Joan of Arc who spoke with saints and was called by God to live a man’s life (going to war, dressing, grooming, and performing duties of men) and was martyred in part because of her refusal to conform to gender roles. Trial of Joan of Arc - Wikipedia
 
I was thinking of her, but was wondering if doing so could come off as me affirming the choice to live as another gender.
 
I have a personal devotion to Saint Dymphna and really love her, I just don’t know that recommending intercession to her specifically for the gender dysphoria would help. Like others said, I’m not sure it would go over well, and the last thing I would want to communicate is that something is seriously wrong with his mind and inadvertently add shame. However, he does struggle with anxiety, so while I would not relate her to the dysphoria, I think she would be good to tell him about in relation to his anxieties.
 
Having communion with saints is not going to hurt, if anything it will help. I think everyone could use a Saint they feel could relate to their own struggles. Saint Joan was called to live like a man, she faced persecution, and she was a good Catholic, faithful until the bitter end.
 
St Dymphna, St Jude (patron of impossible cases), St Joan of Arc, St Benedict Joseph Labre, St Christina Mirabilis. All these, and more, are patrons of those who live with irregular circumstances. Look them up and see if any might suit the child in question. Brave as he is to come and admit his struggle, encourage him to keep faith in the Church and the saints, and God Almighty.

If it isn’t above your reach, speak with his parents as well - because counselling and psychology is also an option.
 
She was martyred mostly because, well, um… she was actually effective and her enemies didn’t like that very much, and her allies were rather useless.
