Paul Movie thoughts

I just saw it today. The part that has me confused is near the end, when Paul was outside and says to Luke that he was going to take a walk in the sunshine. A few seconds later Luke starts talking about how he would finish his story/writing, and says that Paul later wound up in a villa, then changed it to his living in a palace.

Paul was beheaded. Did Luke embellish his story?

I’m not well versed in that part of the Bible. Luke didn’t write in the Bible that Paul ended up in a villa or palace, did he?

I thought the movie conveyed the deep conversion to Christ that Paul experienced.
And also conveyed his reliance on grace to deal with his past sins. It also dealt with the persecution faced by Christians in that time.

That being said, something was missing on a cinematic level that is hard to put my finger on. I fell asleep in the middle of the movie. I just thought parts of it were a little disconnected.

Honestly, neither my friend, nor I really enjoy it until the last1/3 of the film, minus Paul’s death.

I saw the movie last Saturday night and I thought it was well done. I highly suggest that you see the movie if you haven’t seen it yet.

What were your thoughts about the part, near the end, when St.Luke suggests he could write that St.Paul could’ve ended in a villa, or a palace?

I just kind of wonder why they did Paul when it seemed (to me, anyways) that the one from 5 to 10 years ago was really good.

Has anyone seen both of them?

I think whoever chose to make this movie has been moved by what has been happening to modern day Christians in the Middle East. How they have been persecuted by ISIS. Some have been martyred for their faith. Many modern day Christians have fled certain areas of the Middle East
fearing for their lives and the lives of their families.
Other Christians have remained in the Middle East wanting to still practice their faith.
He is comparing modern day Middle East
Christians to those persecuted by Nero.
I think many of us in the United States take for granted that we are free to practice our Christian faith and I know I used to believe that persecution of Christians was in the early part of Christianity and would never happen again. Of course, there was the Armenian genocide in the early part of last century. We have been watching ISIS try to eradicate Christianity from the Middle East and parts of Northern Africa.

My thought is…I hope I can convince my husband to see it today 😎

Paul was allowed to be imprisoned with a guard and quarters of his own.

I really would like to see the movie…it comes out where I live on April 6, I want to wait however to see the reviews from those of you who go to see it, my 11 year old wants to go, so please post when any of you see it. God Bless:🦋🦋
