Did “Paul” have visions that inspired him to create the church?

How can we be sure that they were divinely inspired? How do we know they are true?

P.S. Was he the same “apostel Paul”?

Blessings

Christ created His Church.

which Church? don’t know of anybody named paul who started a church

Jesus Christ started the Catholic Church.
Paul had a private revelation, described once in Acts and once his letters, in which he heard Christ who revealed the truth about Himself, and sent him (now blinded) to Christians who led him to the apostles, the leaders of the early Church. you could just read about it in acts if you are interested.

Maybe I am misunderstanding.

Why do muslims call Catholics “Pauliss” (sp?) I was told it was because of Paul?

Blessings.

I was not aware that Muslims did that. Can you provide a link to an Islamic website, in English of course, in which Catholics are called that?

The ‘Paulists’ are an American religious order, the Missionary Society of Saint Paul the Apostle.

Sometimes Christians call other Christians ‘Paulians’ (i.e. ‘Paul-ian’ rather than ‘Christ-ian’) for tending to emphasize the writings of Paul over the ministry of Christ Himself. It’s a term of MILD derision, and not intended to disparage Paul’s ministry and writings in any way.

Paul was not one of the twelve apostles chosen personally by Christ; in fact, he persecuted the early Christians relentlessly before his conversion.

He and his associate Barnabas are given the honorary title ‘apostle’ because of their pioneering work bringing the Christian gospel to the Gentiles.

I’ve seen that claim made by Muslims on this forum. It seems to mean that they consider St. Paul as being the actual founder of Christianity in that supposedly he perverted the messages of the the “Prophet Jesus” and made of Jesus God Incarnate rather than being just a man like all the prophets (Isaiah, Ezekiel, etc.) before Him and the “prophet” Mohammed after Him.

Many enemies of Christianity allege Paul simply ‘made up’ Christianity by adding his unique theological twist to an otherwise Jewish, sectarian cult. I don’t agree, of course, but you’ve touched on something central to a very particular, stubborn and potentially compelling line of anti-Christian thought. For example, it thrives in Muslim theological circles.
  • Sorry. I only read the lead-in. Didn’t see all subsequent posts that echoe my points.

Personally, I believe God chose Paul as the means of delivering the Holy Spirit to the most important gentile nation of his time – Rome, and to solidify Christ’s teachings into a more ‘durable’ theological doctrine. Consider the unique qualities of Paul: educated rabbi from the school of Gemaleil, Greek, Roman citizen, gifted theologian, multi-linguist, and dedicated, self-sacrificing evangelist to the Greeks and Romans. To me, God specifically chose this man to make Christianity not only a world religion, but the religion of the Roman Empire, the most powerful human community in the civilized world at that time, and also a religion acceptable to the most philosophically advanced people of emergent Europe – the Greeks. Go, Saint Paul.👍
