In its recent letter forbidding the use of the tetragrammaton, the CDW stated that this was following in the tradition of the early Church. Somewhere in the next 1500 years that rule was dropped in practice.
Makes perfect sense that the Church of Jerusalem, led by Jews, would follow this approach. I’m not quite as certain about the Pauline Church.
I’m curious whether there are any passages from scripture that suggest Paul retained the Jewish custom, or that he rejected this as he did the dietary laws?
