Is there anyone out there with PCOS? I was diagnosed with PCOS recently and was put on 50mg of clomid in the hopes that I would ovulate. I just found out today that my progesterene was actually lower than when I started the medicine. Without the medicine it was 0.08 and after the medicine it was 0.06. So I guess I didn’t ovulate. I’m so depressed and feel like God has left me. I’ve always played by the rules and have never had sex until I was married. My sister got pregnant out of wedlock and is reaping the rewards with a wonderful little boy. I just can’t understand it. I"m fat and hairy all over while she is slim and perfect. I feel like a man and she is completely happy with her body. She dosen’t even go to Church. Has anyone out there ever ovulated or concieved a child with PCOS, who started from such a low level of progesterene? I"m just so sad 😦 I just don’t know if I have the strength to take the medicine again (now 100mg) only to be dissapointed. At this point I would be happy if I could just ovulate like a normal woman. I feel like a nothing or a freak because I can’t ovulate.

Just wanted to let you know that there’s hope, sweetie! :hug1:

I have PCOS and just found out I’m pregnant. 😃 It hasn’t been an easy road by any means: I’ve had two miscarriages, take progesterone supplements every cycle and have tried four cycles on Clomid. Ironically this cycle when I took a break from all the charting and Clomid, I got pregnant and so far my beta numbers are much better than they have ever been before. 👍

So it can definitely happen, it just is never going to be as easy as some of your friends/family members who can have a baby the first month they try. 🤷

Your progesterone levels for all means and purposes are pretty much identical for the two cycles (if they are that low you’re simply not ovulating). Your dr. may want to increase your Clomid dosage and do an u/s to monitor your follicle growth near ovulation–he may want to even do a trigger shot to force your body to ovulate. You still have a lot of things to try…😛

Congratulations and thanks so much for replying. I guess anything is possible.🙂

Triste, your struggle sounds a lot like mine!!! :hug1::imsorry:

I too have PCOS, am overweight and hairy all over. I’ve always hated my body and have never had normal periods since I was 16. This past cycle I took 150mg of clomid and I finally ovulated one mature follicle! I’m waiting to take a HPT to see if I’m pregnant, but I won’t know for sure for another 1-2 weeks.

Even if the clomid is a bust for you, there are other medications like injectable hormones that your doctor might suggest to you. Don’t despair so quickly! I feel like I’m the pot calling the kettle black here, because I often get depressed myself. I hate how my body can’t even do the simple task of ovulate, which is a basic woman function. It makes you feel less than a woman, doesn’t it? 😦

One day when I was driving home from my doctor’s office after I had an ultrasound that showed I wasn’t going to ovulate again (that was a few months ago), I was balling my eyes out. I just couldn’t understand why someone like me, who follows the teaching of the Church on abstaining until marriage, no birth control, etc, should have infertility issues while others who abuse sex outside of marriage should be blessed with children. Then it hit me: often God calls the righteous people to suffer for the sinners, so maybe God places this burden of infertility on the faithful to make amends for those that abuse their fertility. It gave me some hope that my suffering isn’t for naught, and that maybe some good can come from this.

God has a plan, it might be that you have your own child, it might not. Remember that whatever is to come, He always has your best interest in mind! Also, there are lots of wonderful women here who are a great support network. I would encourage you to check out the “Pregnant or not?” thread under the parenting section of these forums.

Welcome! And many prayers for you and your family! :gopray:

Thanks so much for your reply. You are right PCOS makes you feel like less of a woman.😦

But keep reminding yourself that you are not any less a woman!!! You are very much a woman who has a beautiful opportunity to offer up her sufferings with Christ! 🙂

Yes I am on a low carb diet and I have lost 100 pounds but I’m still not ovulating and my doctor won’t put me on metoformin because my sugar is now in the normal range.

Triste I am so sorry you are having such a tough time. I’ve often thought that infertility has to be one of life’s hardest challenges. It just seems so unfair at times.
While I haven’t been dealing with it that long, it certainly has changed me greatly as I know it changes every person dealing with it.
One thing that has really helped bring me some peace is simply making sure I am doing all the right things. I feel that if I do all that I can to get myself in the right shape physically, mentally, and spiritually to become a mother then I can truly leave it in God’s hands. If I do all those things, and I still don’t conceive, then I can peacefully know that it is His plan for our family. That doesn’t mean it won’t be hard, very hard. It just means that I am not letting my own weaknesses get in the way. I hope that makes sense.
It sounds like you are doing the right things. I hope you will keep hope. And know that you are not alone and God is NOT punishing you.

My wife has PCOS and is now pregnant, possibly with multiples (shhhhhhh…we’ve only told a few people so far 😉 ). So there is defintely hope. What ultimately worked for her was a combination of menipur injections and letrozole, followed by ganirelix when her levels were right. It took over a year and a lot of stress to get the exact formula right, as well as the constant need to state and restate my refusal to take part in IVF. Our doctor, a Catholic, tried to convince me that IVF was not forbidden and that Humanae Vitae was just an opinion (I didn’t even think to bring up that the document forbidding IVF is called Donum Vitae…Humanae deals with birth control). To be honest, I almost gave in, but I’m glad I didn’t.

If nothing seems to work after some time, you may want to contact the Pope Paul VI institute. They’re in Nebraska, but there are physicians trained in their methods all over the country.

My wife also went through the “I’m not a real woman” period. It will pass. Prayer and a little dedication will get you through this.

Good luck

:hug3:
I second the recommendation to contact PopePaulVI institute. That sure helped me.
I too have PCOs and wish I had found the fertility clinic (through PopePaulVI) years before.
That said I did have DS with PCOs. Though I have a few other issues as well, fibroid, thyroid, hormone imbalance…
One book the dr recommended for PCOS and helped me loose 40lbs was

Also, was put on metformin for the PCOs. As well B6, B12, selenium, VitC, Folic acid, Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D, Iron, guafenisin, amoxicillin, probiotics, progesterone troches, hCG shots,…
That said I have done 2 rounds of clomid (did not work for me), 3 rounds of letrozole and was ready to give up, when we decided to give letrozole another shot so once again … and the follicular U/S on Saturday show that 2 follicles ruptured one on right ovary and the other on left, guess the trigger shot worked 😉 now we are hoping and praying that in 10 or so days we get a BFP. As I am so frustrated with all the meds I take and DS really wants a sibling.

Will keep you in my prayers. And hope you get a BFP soon

Hi, I have PCOS…

After 2 years being miserable doing infertility treatments, we adopted. Two children from Russia, a boy & a girl.

WOW! I love my kids. They are the best! Everyone is always telling us, what great kids they are, how loving, how sweet, and what a great family we have. I thank God everyday for giving me PCOS. My husband & my square genes (we are both engineers) would never have made the 2 squiggles we have for kids! God has blessed us in so many ways…I am so grateful.

Also, with all due respect to all the girly girls out there, I enjoy being more logical, and less emotional. I find I have a steadier more peaceful life then many hormone filled women.

God works for the good in all things, for those that believe in Him.

Very helpful advice, am going thru the same thing
but I kno god is in control.wil be praying for you

Amen, amen, amen
:signofcross:

I don’t have anything to add to this thread, but just wanted to thank you, gam3rchic, for sharing what you have learned about God’s wisdom.
