I was reminded of the peace poles around my hometown last night after I spent the night visiting my diocese’s seminary. There was a small peace pole in my room, between one and two feet tall, and I was instantly reminded of the larger ones in front of my old Episcopal church and the town’s police department.
Does anyone know anything about them? I want to get a small pole for my desk, but I’m a bit troubled by some things on their “about” page:

My guess is that it has Buddhist origins.
