The grace i receive through body and blood of our Lord in the eucharist is the only thing that strengthened me to overcome the shame and sin I have endured for my entire adult life.

It’s a purposely open-ended sentence meaning “God is greater than… (whatever)” implying that you don’t need to finish the sentence because God is greater than anything else you could possibly mention. The literal translation of “akbar” is “greater” but “God is great” is a fair translation for Allah Akbar I guess.
 
Also I think “kabir” means great also, but more so relating to the sense of size?
 
I’m Christian because I’m weak and hopelessly lost without a loving God to find me and hide me in the cleft of the Rock.

I’m Catholic for many reasons, but the best reason of all is the way Catholicism is so systematic about analyzing and applying Jesus to everything under the sun. No matter what it is, some Catholic has thought about it and written about it somewhere, sometime during the 2,000 years of the Christian Era.
 
Wow, your posts are really inspiring!
Can we continue to hear what inspires people on this thread only, if people believe in what they do, so be it, we dont have to agree with them.
I just want a thread of peace, hence the title…

Catholicism enables you to be religious without checking your brain at the door because it makes sense.

Of course, as we have seen, it will not make sense to those who have already determined that it WILL NOT make sense, but to those that are open to the truth, it will make sense.

So many other religions/sects require you to detach your brain from your religious experience that it is refreshing when one does not.

Am I saying there are no mysteries or things that are difficult to grasp? No. But I AM saying that our faith is internally consistent and not preposterous. Too many other so-called religions require the acceptance of the blatantly preposterous. Our faith does not.

The reason I will always remain catholic is because of what Jesus did for us, what he taught us and the love he gave us, and shown us the love God has for us, and how powerful that love is.
The fact that God loves us so much gives me peace that I need and that he gave his only son for us, well, words cannot express that.

I’m Catholic, and I get a sense of peace about my faith when I’m allowed to disagree and question it. Catholics have never threatened me. I’ve been told I’m wrong on certain occasions, but never made to feel judged or damned. Also, being Catholic is difficult. If it’s hard, then you’re doing it right.

Lately, I’m comforted by the fact my beliefs are often criticized and fall within the minority, Maybe being unpopular is a way to peace?
