Yes, but Muslims think we worship more than one God and we don’t. Many of the verses say “one God” and we believe in one God.
You’ll be surprised to learn some Muslims who in all sincerity do believe Christians believe in one God. Infact there was an article written by an influential Muslim that berated Muslims who attack or defaced churches. She called them individuals who have no confidence in their beliefs .

Beautiful!! Christians actually believe in one God too! The Trinity is three persons in one God, like a shamrock!:shamrock2:
I think that I need to elaborate just a wee bit more on a passage of the Qur’an which I had posted earlier:

Not all of them are alike; a party of the people of the Scripture stand for the right, they recite the Verses of God during the hours of the night, prostrating themselves in prayer. They believe in God and the Last Day; they enjoin Al-Ma’rĂ»f (what is morally right) and forbid Al-Munkar (what is morally wrong); and they hasten in (all) good works; and they are among the righteous. And whatever good they do, nothing will be rejected of them; for God knows well those who are Al-MuttaqĂ»n {those who guard (against evil)}
 [Qur’an 3:113-115]

The thing to note and remember here is that those of the People of the Book who the Lord might be pleased with are those who are always prostrating themselves in prayer.

Thank you for sharing!! This makes me joyful!!:hug3: We are all of God’ children.

One of the issues with the peaceful passages in the Qur’an versus the more violent ones is that the peaceful ones were written earlier. My understanding of how the Qur’an is interpreted is that the passages which were written later, trump those which were written earlier. I believe this is referred to as the Doctrine of Abrogation. Thus, the calls for violence often overrule the calls for peace based upon when they were written.

This creates a great deal of confusion in the west, particularly when media types are reporting on the relationship between Islam and violence. Typically, an Imam or some sort of media ‘expert’ is brought out to explain that Islam is in fact peace loving religion and that the Qur’an contains many peaceful and loving passages. This is true, it does. The problem is that many, if not most, Imams or Mullahs interpret the Qur’an based on the doctrine I described above which flies in the face of those claims.

I know several wonderful and peaceful Muslim people who are the first to talk about this situation.

The Qu’ran text I was reading does not say that that passage has been abrogated. However, the translation does say that such people are not to be rejected only if they accept Muhammad as prophet.

I gave up on reading the Qu’ran. I need relief!!! I am now reading Sirach. 😉

I don’t think the text itself is going to say anything about Abrogation. It is a method of interpretation.

The one I was reading has a note on those which have been abrogated. Translated by Dr. Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali, and Muhammad Muhsin Khan. Published by Muktaba Dar-us-Salam, 1993 distributed by Al-harmain Islamic Foundation, Saudi Arabia.

😉 I’m still waiting to see hamba2han reaction to “We are all of God’ children”
My reaction to “We are all of God’s children”??

Well, the way I see it is that good children get hugs and kisses from mommy and daddy
whereas naughty children get sent to their rooms without eating their supper.

The children who do really naughty things often get grounded
and the really, really bad children are sent away to correctional centers and sometimes even get disowned by their parents.

And how would children know whether or not they are pleasing their parents?

Easy, all they need to do is to refer to the checklist given to them by their father
and in the case of Christians, this would be known as the Ten Commandments.

And let us examine what the Second Commandment says in the Book of Leviticus:

“Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.”
 Leviticus 26:1

Does anyone see the word “worship” in this verse of the Bible?

The Second Commandment is warning against making any “graven images” and “bowing down” to these statues and pictures.

It does NOT explicitly warn against worshiping statues
but it does indeed warn against bowing down to them.

And so, the children who willingly violate their father’s instruction to them to stop bowing down to statues and graven images do indeed risk the punishment of being sent to their rooms without having any supper
at the very least I would imagine.

Do you have pictures of people who have died? We have pictures of saints to remind us of their their goodness. We don’t worship the saints. We ask them to pray for us.

We only worship God, not a statue or picture. A crucifix reminds us of God’s great love and sacrifice. From the outside, I’m sure it must look sinful, but actually sacramentals bring us closer to God.

hamba please do not divert from the main topic, answer with yes or no, do you agree with **aschaefer **statement that “We are all of God’ children”?

In the immortal words of Benjamin Netanyahu – “
if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then what is it?”

I would say that if something looks like a graven image, then making that graven image, erecting that graven image and bowing down to it is very likely to be a major sin as stated in the Second Commandment
and committing a sin does NOT bring anyone closer to God.

And since my recent posts on this thread are really not related to the topic of the thread, then perhaps it is best that I stop here.

I guess Muslims should be sent to their rooms too without any supper for kissing the kaba

God bless,

There is no other way to RECONCILIATION between Catholics and Islam other than the intercession of Our Blessed Mother. Pray for their conversion.

Prayer to Our Lady of Africa for the conversion of Muslims.
(composed by Mgr. Pavy, second Bishop of Algiers, in 1858)

O Holy and Immaculate Heart of Mary, so full of mercy, be affected by the blindness and deep misery of the muslims. You, the Mother of God made man, obtain for them the knowledge of our holy religion, the grace to embrace and practice it faithfully, so that through your powerful intercession we will all be united in the same hope and same love of your Divine Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, who was crucified and who died for the salvation of all men and resurrected full of glory, reign in the unity of the Father and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever, Amen.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee and convert those who have not recourse to thee.
Our Lady of Africa, pray for us, convert us, convert the Jews, the Muslims, the Marxists, the Freemasons and all souls who are under the influence of the Anti-Christ.
Consoler of the afflicted, pray for us.

When you prayer with your beads, you are not worshiping the beads. They help you count as you glorify Allah. We do not bow down to the image. Our minds are focused on the Lord. I totally understand what you are saying. I think we can agree to disagree on this one. This is “Peaceful Islamic Passages”.

:hmmm:

Well if anyone wants an update I made that friend (acqaintance) 😃 Thanks for the nice passages and useful information.

I love - love breaking down walls. 🙂
