I just wanted to inform my Eastern and Oriental brethren that there is an awesome discussion/debate in the Non-Catholic Religions Forum on this issue between a Protestant and Latin Catholics.

I know members of this Forum in the past have accused the Latins (Catholics, that is) of espousing the doctrine of penal substitution. The thread demonstrates that this is a confusion between the Protestant understanding and the genuine Catholic understanding of the matter.

The thread is only three pages long so far, so it should be an easy read. Maybe some of our Eastern and Oriental members would even like to participate in the thread.

I’d rather not.

Sometimes people forget to put their faith in Christ Himself, and instead transfer it to a theory about how He saves us.

The two are NOT the same.
