Penances and confession

I went to a new priest for confession this week, and he told me to avoid all media for a day (then he suggested doing it the following day).
I took him up on his suggestion, avoided tv/social media the next day. Late that night, I decided the day was over, so I could go back to watching tv.
I think this was cutting it a little short, so I’m going to try again and do a full 24 hours.
My worry though is that cutting it short the first time was a sin of disobedience, and I don’t have time to make it to confession today.
 
Not fulfilling your penance was not a sin. Do your best but don’t stress over it. Your sins were forgiven.
 
As long as you understand why he had you do that penance you should be OK. My only suggestion would be if you are this worried about cutting your penance short, really try to follow through next time. May you find peace in our Lord. God bless you
 
You are only obliged to do your penance before you next confession. If you can’t get it done, tell the priest in confession. I love the penance I hope other priest catch on.
