Who gave the pentacostal church so much power? They seem to be spreading fast but not in a good way. Seems they are looking for power and numbers of people joining.

Or maybe they are just obeying the Great Commission. Food for thought.

I think you need to be careful about making these kinds of negative assumptions about a group of fellow Christians.

I know plenty of Christians who belong to Pentecostal Protestant denominations who are deeply in love with Jesus, and who seek to be holy and do His will here on earth.

Of course they look for “numbers”–they want to see as many people go to heaven as possible, as do Catholics–“Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy.”

I think that one of the main reasons people are attracted to Pentecostal churches is the good music. I know that a lot of Catholics on this board despise modern “rock” music in a Christian setting, but I think they are the minority. Many Christians love modern praise music when it is well played and sung. I’m NOT saying that Christians should go to church because of the music, but I think it’s one explanation for why Pentecostal churches grow.

My immediate family (including myself) was baptized various kinds of Lutheran but drifted into the Assemblies of God. Pentecostalism in its most extreme forms reminds me of the Bible where it says they will run afer signs and wonders. Why don’t we see the fulfillment of prophecy?

I agree with Itwin. They are enthusiastic about the Gospel maybe we could take a que from them 🙂

Most of the Pentecostal churches I have been to were more like wild parties than church. Believe it or not, I have seen cartwheels done in a Pentecostal church. This is not to mention extremely loud Christian rock music, dancing, jumping, shouting, etc. Plus the pastors sometimes scream so loud that you can see veins popping out on their foreheads. I converted from the Pentecostal church and I am sooo glad I did!
