Pentecstal and Assemblies

Can any one tell me the diff between Pentecstal and Assemblies of God Churchs I think we got the pentecstal in about 1901 A of G in 1914. At one time I think the pentecstal worship snake or use them in the church in some way and had a lot of people that did die from getting bit by the snakes.
Does any one remember any of this., I think I do they came to town and put up tents and had tent show.
 
Pentecostals are a movement, think like Charismatic Catholics which came out of the Holiness tradition and the Azusa Street revivals just over 100 years ago. The Assemblies of God is the largest Pentecostal denominations. They broke off from The Church of God in Christ largely over racial politics issues; White people would not accept Black church leaders.

Thank you for your answer, do you know which was the one that worship the snakes. and had meeting in tents a few years back, may be about 1946
 
I think you are trying to put a denominational name on traveling ewvangelist. Good luck with that. They tend to be just Christian until the pastor or start up their own church at which point they remain nondenominational or join in alliance with an existing denomination.

Well may be but I never heard of a non0denomination church until a few years ago, but I can remember My mother calling them pentecstal they set up tents and had snake and sing and make all kind of weir and dance all aroud the tent, Me and other watch them until just after dark, I think some of them come from wVA, and may be KY I was only about 6 or 7 at the time

I used to joke that the moment Assembly of God raised Sarah Palin was nominated for VP there was a $1,000,000 bounty out for video of her rolling around on the floor with a snake while screaming in an unknown tongue. Judging by the area of your childhood those Pentecostals holding the revival tent meetings where probably from the Holiness tradition. Watch Robert Duvall’s movie The Apostle for a more recent example. The big tent revivals are mostly gone from America, they are replaced by TV. The Billy Graham’s and Greg Laurie’s of the world hold crusades mostly in sports stadiums in there place

Well they only come for a short time B4 the City put a stop to them,because of the snake and people said it was part of a cult

If I remember I think I saw something of this on the history or discovery channel somewhere along those lines on this. They do thrive in the Appalachian Mtn. area. I did find a link to it. Kind of a interesting article.
