People carry Mary statue on their shoulder does not look nice

No it looks like “statue carrying”. It is called a procession.

Honoring - not adoring- Our Lady or rather in this case it looks like it can be “Saint Anne” the Mother of Mary (and Grandmother of Jesus) with Mary as a young girl there.

Idol worship involves an idol…which one adores as a god. Not what his happening here. Think “family honoring very important Grandmother”…we are the Family of God and St. Ann is important in our Family…and Mary of course too is very important in our Family.

I suggest that you educate yourself by looking up the definitions of “idol,” “worship” and “venerate,” and then employ some critical thinking skills to ascertain why your original premise is not only wrong but also unjustly critical of the millions throughout the ages who have participated in religious processions.

Idol worship involves much more than carrying a statue. The Children of Israel carried the Ark of the Covenant. Was that idolatry too? Of course not. They carried it because it was sacred, set apart for God. It’s the same reason statues of the saints are carried, to remind us that they are holy people whose example we can immulate.

Worship requires offering a sacrifice, usually a blood sacrifice. Is anyone doing that in the picture? Again, of course not. Catholics do not offer sacrifices to St. Anne, the Blessed Virgin Mary or any other saint no matter how exalted they may be. We offer only one sacrifice to God the Father, and that is the Eucharist offered on our altars, not saints’ statues carried in procession.

It would be worth your while to bone up on the full meaning of the Communion of Saints, so you have a proper understanding of who they are in relation to us and to God.

The men carrying the statue are from another culture. Are you feeling a bit of cultural snobbery? That’s something for you to ask yourself, not respond to here, my friend. 😉 It’s easy to judge other cultures by unfair standards when we live in a predominantly Protestant culture. 🙂

Also, be sure you aren’t being envious of the saints, as if the wonderful things God did through them mean nothing as long as you or I don’t receive the same veneration. Our natural inclination is to envy those who are exalted above us, so be certain that’s not what you are really feeling here. 😉
 
Idols are made up. A statue of Mary is a representation of a real person. Just like pictures in your wallet.

A truly wonderful image. Looks very respectful and the people look as if they are very devoted and enjoying Our Lady’s company in the sunshine!

So nice to see. Thank you very much for the photograph and for reminding many Catholic devotees on this forum how much utter appreciative love is held in the hearts of Christians for Our Holy Mother in all areas of the world.

It’s fine to have a question on our minds. 🙂 That’s why CAF exists–to help each other with our questions/concerns. So, ask away. I would suggest that you not make judgment calls, such as carrying a statue “does not look nice.” That can mean a lot of things you may not want it too, and can provoke some strong responses. It’d be better to ask, “Why are these men carrying a statue–is it all right?” 🙂

Fatima processions occur at dozens if not hundreds of Churches every first Saturday and they carry an image of Her.

Has She not even commanded Churches to be built in at least one of Her apparitions? To honor Her?

What is the difference between naming a Church, Holy Angels? Or the number of different names there are? It is to honor the Saint or Holy entity.

Consider the other ones there are? But I’ve only seen the image of the Blessed Mother venerated in this manner.

A great way to celebrate the living faith as well.

It is a great honor if one ever gets to carry the Blessed Statue.
