People leaving their Church

In today’s age are more people leaving the Catholic Church to join Protestant Churches or vice versa? I can’t seem to find much info. on this topic. God Bless:)
 
According to rumor, more of us leave to join a non-CC than vice-versa. In the US, overall numbers are up because of immigration. Many mainline Protestant churches are shrinking due to aging congregations and members leaving for independant churches.
 
I think all the numbers are misleading, anyway. Supposedly, 75% of those in this country who identify themselves as Catholic don’t even attend Mass on Sunday’s and Holy Days of Obligation. A higher percentage of those who are in their fertile years practice artificial birth control.

Like my wife says, you can put a Mercedes Benz hood ornament on your Ford, but it doesn’t make it a Mercedes Benz. In other words, you can call yourself anything you like, but it doesn’t necessarily make it so.
 
Well idk the numbers really. But think of our country back in the days of the 13 colonies. Everyone was practically protestant. There was this tiny Catholic community of 1785, which possessed no Bishop and hardly 25 priests, and now there is this mighty organization we see today that spreads its branches from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Now a days around 23% of the US population is of Catholics. Id say around 70% are protestant, but there is no protestant denomination bigger than Catholics.

We have a lot of work to do. But I do notice that slowly Catholicism is becoming more solid as time passes. On the other hand, protestantism has 40,000 denominations according to ETWN, every week 5 are created. We see that there is simply no unity among protestantism. People who start noticing this go back in history, they check which was the first Church and decide to convert. Thats my opinion.

I agree, in my spiritual journey I did a lot of historical research which had a big impact on my conversion to the Catholic Church.

It seems odd to me that 5 new protestant denominations are started weekly. Is this mainly based on slight changes in interpretations in the Bible? Or what are some of the other reasons? Thanks.

5 are started every week only in the United States, who knows Worldwide. Almost all of them claim to be guided by the Holy Spirit.

This is either because of a different interpretation of the bible, or because people ultimately simply feel like starting their “own” church with their own name. Since its also a business for some, why not have it for oneself? They choose what to believe and how to live the gospel according to them. People just cant accept Catholicism because they feel they cant be as liberal as they want. Some don’t want to follow the bible as it is, that’s why we see the Episcopal church having same sex marriages (which are in reality no marriages at all). We see churches allowing abortion, and many other things condemned by the bible.

If we read history, Luther’s rejection of the Catholic Church’s authority to determine and interpret Sacred Scripture in 1517 opened the flood gates of personal interpretation of the bible. Soon other Protestant Leaders Proclaimed their own distinct and conflicting biblical interpretations. In fact, once Luther observed the rapid increase and lack of unity among the new Protestant denominations, he stated:

“There are almost as many sects and beliefs as there are heads…this one will not admit baptism; that one rejects the sacrament of the altar; another places another world between the present one and the day of judgment; Some teach that Jesus isn’t God. There is not an individual, however clownish he may be…who does not claim to be inspired by the Holy Ghost, and who does not put forth as prophecies his ravings and dreams”

This is why we say that there is ONE, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, there is no other church other than this one. Because just as Christ is one and he is the head of it, the Bible says the Church is the bride of Christ (Eph. 5:23–32). Jesus can have but one spouse, and his spouse is the Catholic Church because there is but one truth, not 40,000.

I don’t see under what authority all of these other denominations start. Oh well, it’s interesting to study. God bless

When Adam and Eve did their first sin, what did they do?

They hid.

To parapharse, today they would hid at home or hid in another church.

It still is about sin.
