Like many here. I have a hard time swallowing the Democratic party. (as it exist today) But, you are spot on about the Republicans.👍 They have driven my entire family away.

Interesting, isn’t it, that conservatives give more to charity than do liberals? Possibly some of your family members are not understanding something.

I reject your entire post. I do not accept Ayn Rand, and only the Libertarians who have invaded the GOP promote her philosophy, and try to disguise it as Republican.

Our identity is not as Democrats or Republicans. Or, it should not be. My identity is Catholic first, American second. That means the 5 non-negotiables go with me into the voting booth. I cannot, as a Catholic, vote for the Democrat party as long as the platform includes access to birth control, abortion, euthanasia, and fetal stem cell research. Even if any individual Democrat politician states that he or she is pro-life, the voting record tells the story. The politician would get no support from the DNC if he opposed the platform.
I agree with your self-identity. It’s one I share. However, it must be said that presently, (perhaps not forever) the practices of the Dem party are inimical to the teachings of the Church; openly and overtly so in many instances, while those of the Repubs are not.

So, while I am not a Repub, and have never been, (born, raised Dem and held office in the party) I cannot vote Dem because it is so resolutely contrary to the Church. That leaves no way to defeat them but to vote Republican, which I do. There has not been a prolife Democrat on my ballot for years and years, and I absolutely will not vote for an abortion supporter.

👍:yup::clapping:

I would love it if the Democrat party would return to the pre-LBJ days. It seems that their extremist element has had firm control for a number of years if not decades, and growing more radical all the time. I have not heard of any reform from within, so until that happens, I must join you in voting GOP.

I always appreciate a short post from you. I think we understand the Republicans, very well.
As we are speaking of charity. It’s my understanding, the poor give more than the wealthy. Whether they are conservative or Liberal.🤷 There is really no telling.

… and greed.

I think envy is more of a problem than greed.

I agree. I actually think both parties were much better in the earlier half of the 20th century. Now it seems extremists are in charge of both.

Between envy and coveting, I think we have covered about 99% of America.

Could I? Yes. Will I? No. I think i made my point.😉

That greed is a serious problem is a number from which we are to extrapolate the proof thereof? I think that leaves a lot unexplained, and since you decline to provide an explanation, you have not made your case.

“To fund liberal programs, confiscate liberal wealth.”

That’s all very cute, but it leaves out some very important actors: Bill Clinton, Barney “Let’s Roll The Dice One More Time” Frank, Maxine Waters, the CRA, ACORN, and some assorted government bank examiners.

Excellent comments.

I could not vote Democratic because their positions on life (abortion), family (gay marriage) and government (anti-subsidiarity) are so very, very wrong. This is not a political position but a moral one.

I don’t seek their destruction, only that they change. At the moment, we do not have a 2 party system like there once was. I would love to have a real choice between competing ideas and approaches again. My choices now are only among primary candidates of one party because the other party’s platform (and their solid record in following through on that platform) is completely unacceptable and getting worse.
