People who believe in God but do not attend Church

What do you say to a person who says they believe in God but in any organized religion? You know they need to but how do you tell them? Thank you!

I would suggest to them to read 1 Corinthians Chapter 12. St. Paul is talking about the people as the Body of Christ and how much we need each other, because we are all given special gifts for the benefit of the Church and to build the Kingdom of God.

The main problem with people in this state, isn’t that they do not know or understand the word of God, but primarily that they are confused by the multitude of conflicing dogma’s that are previlant in the world today.

With every church on every corner claiming that they alone are the one true path to heaven, it can become overwhelming to the point that more and more people are choosing to forego organized religion altogether, adopting instead a more relativist attitude that perhaps they’re all right, or all wrong.

This confusion is further compounded by interdenominational warfare where someone of one faith is bound and determined to prove beyond doubt that the other’s religion is wrong, evil or even satin worship.

When talking to someone in this state, you must never attack their religious beliefs no matter how tempted you are. This will only cause them to defend their position further convincing them their current belief system is correct.

All you can really do is introduce them to your beliefs, be respectful of their beliefs, and maybe invite them to attend church with you. You’ll find that by gently leading the way (instead of forcefully pushing) they will be more likely to follow.
