So Polish people should stop referring to themselves as polaks since the word has been used as an ethnic slur by others? You know some people even have this as their surname. Perhaps they should get a different one?

There are a variety of last names that are also ethnic slurs. That’s an entirely different issue.

I didn’t accuse you of racism (btw, Polish isn’t a race). Do I personally think it’s a poor choice? Yes. Do I think it’s a bit more concerning than the choice to mute/ignore other users? Yes. And that’s where I leave it.

Racism doesn’t necessarily have to do with race, it can also be about nationality, ethnicity and religion

Typically, I’ll mute a thread where an OP starts with a legit question, then in just a few responses, it becomes apparent they’re looking for a fight. Rather than engage, I’ll usually just move on, mute it, and avoid any temptation to sink into the mire.

Again, you’re free to ignore whatever opinion I have. Or not, in this case. I just find it funny that you’re calling people who use the mute feature or whatever cowards, and this thread is popping up so recently after someone told you they were muting you.

That’s a bit on an insult to people who use the forum isn’t it? Are you saying people who use this forum have nothing better to do in their lives? I certainly have plenty of things to do, and when I get some time, I also visit these forums.
This was your first post in response to the question. It hasn’t got anything to do with the topic and is simply an attack on me.

I don’t see it as an insult at all. I think you are reading into that comment to suit your argument. He said if he had better things to do he wouldn’t be here, he did not say if people had better things to do they wouldn’t be here. It’s not necessary to get offended about every little thing.

Yes that’s right, being put on ignore reminded me to create a thread on the topic. It’s something I meant to do in the past, because as I explained, I generally don’t like when people do that, not only to me. So this incident prompted me to finally start a discussion on the ignore and mute functions.

I still don’t understand why you don’t like it. What do you care if I put someone on ignore? What affect does it have on you if I use the feature? There are more ways to ignore someone than to use the Ignore feature.

Maybe it’s being told he’s being muted that he doesn’t like? I’ve muted a couple of folks but I’ve never shared that information with them. Just a guess, though. The thread is a bit of a mystery to me.
