People who should be Saints

I think you mean my patron, His Holiness, Blessed Pius IX. And yes, I agree. Pius IX does need a bit of a boost. His Holiness’ problem is the same as that of Pius XII - many think he was anti-semitical. Of course His Holiness was not, but people will still complain. But, it is through the Grace of God that anyone becomes a saint - so shall it be that Pius IX becomes a saint.

It just dawned on me that maybe you weren’t talking about Pius IX. Do forgive me if you weren’t.

Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha is scheduled to be canonized, most likely in October of this year.

I would like to add to the list, Irena Sendler, the Polish social worker who, along with other members of the Polish Underground, saved 2,500 Jewish children by smuggling them out of the Warsaw ghetto and providing them with false documents. She also kept records of the children’s names and assumed identities, and buried them in jars so that when the war was over, they could be reunited with their families. After the war, she found that almost every parent had been killed in extermination camps. She was also captured, tortured, and sentenced to death by the Gestapo, but escaped after fellow members of the resistance bribed her guards. She spent the rest of the war in hiding while continuing to help the children.
She died in 2008.

A hero in the truest sense of the word.

Yes I was talking about him, I’m just really dumb or not paying attention and confused the names. 😛
 
Father Thomas Byles. A Roman Catholic priest who went down with the RMS Titanic. He ministered to his temporary flock to the very end. His story is amazing. My children are dedicated to telling his story and others of Titanic Heroism.

Along the same lines, someone else who should be a saint is Miep Guise who help to hide the Frank family and others in Mr. Frank’s work building.

There are so many to be honest. The official canonization process is VERY VERY expensive though. I have been following Bp Sheen’s cause and I gasp at the cost of getting all the investigation done, the paper work, the work of the postulator.

The Vatican Banks are swimming in wealth. They could pay for everyone on the planet to be investigated. And that would put a lot of people to work who need jobs! 👍

I am curious (not critical, only curious) about the chouce of Pope John Paul I by a few here. I have his picture on my wall, among others, but had not thought of him as a potential saint. Please elaborate.

My own list is similar to others:

Blessed John Paul II
Blessed John Henry Newman
Blessed Michal Sapocko (St. Faustina’s spiritual director/confessor)
Venerable Michael McGivney
Servant of God Fulton Sheen
Fr. Joseph Andrasz, S.J. (St. Faustina’s other spiritual director/confessor)
 
The 3 little children of Fatima, Jacinta, Francesco & Lucia. I am in awe of Jacinta in particular for her holiness especially when you take into account her age.

I was aware of Jacinta and Francesco being Blessed but I did not know Lucia was not a saint??
 
Cardinal Nicholas Wiseman - great teacher and apologist

Blessed Hemming - He should have been a saint for a while now, but the process was disturbed by the reformation.

Well she did die only 7 years ago. Bl. Jacinta and Francisco died as children in 1919 and 1920.

Yes as far as I know Lucia has not been declared Blessed yet, but Jacinta & Francisco have been, I would recommend Lucia’s book to all, even to children to read, it shows the amazing faith & sacrifices made by the young children. I was lucky enought to visit their tombs in Fatima last year & will return again in June please God, a wonderful place. I pray daily to the 3 little seers to help me & my family.
