This news about PepsiCo supporting the gay parades in New York is disturbing. However I find myself caught in between a boycott. Our local Pepsi Distributor (owners of a franchise) are members of our parish and have always been very generous throughout the years in supporting the parish especially with building projects and remodeling. I know that they would not support the gay lifestyle.

The American Familiy Association that is encouraging the boycott is asking people to contact their local Pepsi Distributors. What exactly am I supposed to say to this business that has been so generous to our parish?

Ask them if they would consider petitioning Pepsi themselves? If enough distributors do this then it will be effective.

Exactly. If enough distributors write letters expressing concerns that they will either have to shut down or reduce size citing angry customers, Pepsi will take notice.

I know a couple of Christians that worked in Pepsi’s HQ in Chicago that tell me they were out-right discriminated against there. One quit a few months ago and the other quit last Friday. I wouldn’t be surprised if Pepsi sees a lawsuit over this (of course, their argument is that the employees were “anti-gay” and therefore it was the employees discriminating against homosexuals, not the company discriminating against Christians).

PepsiCo is telling those who call to complain about PepsiCo's sponsorship of gay pride parades that it does not sponsor such parades. That simply is not true.
Here are the sponsorship pages, from the various parades, with the PepsiCo product logo showing it as an official sponsor. (The sponsor page for the New York parade has been removed from the New York gay parade site.)
Atlanta Gay Pride Parade (Sponsored by Frito Lay. See the Frito Lay ad near the bottom on the left side.)
Dallas Gay Pride Parade (Sponsored by Pepsi Max. See the Pepsi Max ad on the bottom left side.)
Phoenix Gay Pride Parade (Sponsored by Pepsi Cola. See the Pepsi ad in second row on the right hand side.)
Cleveland Gay Pride Parade (Sponsored by Frito Lay. See the Frito Lay ad in the middle of the page.)
PepsiCo also says it does not require attendance at its “diversity” training seminars. Again, PepsiCo is not being truthful about its practices. This questionnaire response by PepsiCo to the Human Rights Campaign verifies the fact that PepsiCo requires attendance at the “diversity training” seminar. Here is the proof. (See section titled “Diversity Training and Management.”)
PepsiCo refuses to give any money, or to show any compassion, to help its employees who are caught in this destructive and aberrant lifestyle. But they give massive amounts of money to help promote the lifestyle.
AFA has asked PepsiCo to be neutral in the culture war regarding the homosexual agenda and the legalization of homosexual marriage, but PepsiCo refuses to do so.
Take Action! Sign the Boycott Pepsi Pledge. After signing the pledge, please call Pepsi (914-253-2000 or 1-800-433-2652) and tell the company you will boycott its products until it stops promoting the homosexual agenda. If you will stay on the line, a live representative will take your call.
• **Call the Pepsi bottler nearest you **and ask it to use its influence in stopping the company’s support for the homosexual agenda.
• Pepsi’s products include Pepsi soft drinks, Frito-Lay chips and snacks (800-352-4477), Quaker Oats (800-367-6287), Tropicana (800-237-7799) and Gatorade (800-884-2867).
Print the Boycott Pepsi Pledge and distribute it.
Forward this e-mail to your friends and family so they will know about Pepsi’s support of the homosexual agenda. Millions of people are not aware of Pepsi’s support of homosexual organizations.

If you are going to boycott every corporation that has some sort of association with something that is against Church teaching you had better cut off your internet connection right now, throw away your phone, disconnect from the power grid, grow your own food, weave your own fabric…

We have to start somewhere.

I don’t believe that most major corporations promote any serious offense against Catholic church teaching, let alone something like gay sex. But of course let me know if you can show otherwise.

Having spent decades in the corporate world, many years with a Fortune 500 company, I have seen first hand that large companies have diversity training or inclusion as part of the HR training. As it is against he law to discriminate, the company does have to make efforts to show they are fighting discrimination.

They provide for contraception, sterilization and abortion in medical packages, this is standard.

Large corporations donate to “charitable” orginiaztions, and those tend to be the politically correct orginizations that support things that are against Catholic teaching.

My point is, unless you are ready to live on a remote farm, off the grid, and sustain yourself, you are going to give money to a business where someone in that business spends that money on something immoral.

and my point still remains - start with the big guys.

and sexual orientation is not an issue of discrimination.
