How many or what percentage would you say of milennials are Catholic? By Catholic I mean people who actually think about Holy Mother Church on a day to day basis and enjoy Her teachings.

Apparently 75% of all Catholics do not attend Mass. How much lower is it for people of my generation?

Given the sad state of affairs (rise of atheism/indifferentism) I don’t even consider the Protestants/Born agains wrong at this point, merely not as “right” as they could be.😊

Any ideas?

I have no idea. But I would guess that it’s higher for Millennial Catholics than for Catholics who came of age in the 60s. Just a guess.

Not sure for Catholics but here are some statistics from Pew on religion in general.
Skepticism about religion is especially evident among young people. The Pew study found that barely a quarter of “millennials” (born between 1981 and 1996) attend church services on a weekly basis, compared with more than half of U.S. adults born before 1946. Only about 4 in 10 millennials say religion is important in their lives, compared with more than half of those who are older, including two-thirds of those born before 1946.
I’d imagine Catholics of the Millennial generation stick pretty close to the norm.

edit Seems I was right.

If the number has been decreasing, a better question is why are there fewer. Why, as the Pew study indicates, do they feel religion is not important?

My own thoughts are we, the older generation let them down by not properly attending to their spiritual growth and catechesis, as we are charged with doing.

I attended a Catholic college last year. Only one other student came to the Tuesday Mass on campus regularly. Only a handful (somewhere between 4-8) went to the Sunday Mass.

Granted, not only Catholics attended this college (it has a state renowned nursing program and one of few undergraduate art therapy programs around, making it a highly desirable place for all people to attend), but I feel like more people should have shown up.

Things aren’t good for our generation.

True that. I think it is mostly just apathy as opposed to intellectual rigor.

You might not be far off. I was reading an article on a different subject referring to Millennials, namely “going out”. In that concert venues, clubs, bars, night spots, etc… have seen a sizeable drop off in business from the Millennial generation. Millennials are much more inclined to simply buy their own libation, sit on their couch and watch netflix then they are to go out and socialize. And I’m sure organized religion is being hit hard by the same effect. If someone is inclined they can get religion at home many will figure. And if they’re not, there’s always something else on the boob tube or internet.

Near as I can tell Millenials aren’t falling away for any principled stance really, or even firm conviction God is not real, like Nietche.

They have all created Gods unto themselves, in their own image and likeness, the gods of porn, video games and food.

Its apathy truly. Replacing God with their own base desires.
