Perfect contrition necessary for forgiveness?

I read somewhere that perfect contrition is necessary for the forgiveness of mortal sins. Would this be true? Can you still receive communion without perfect contrition?
 
Second link says imperfect contrition does not obtain forgiveness
 
The second link is discussing perfect contrition being able to obtain forgiveness of grave sins prior to going to confession. Only perfect contrition does this before confession. However, for the forgiveness of sins within confession, imperfect or perfect contrition works. Does that clear things up?

One is not normally to receive Holy Communion if one has committed a mortal sin (regardless of the kind of contrition)

Catechism:

1385 To respond to this invitation we must prepare ourselves for so great and so holy a moment. St. Paul urges us to examine our conscience: "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself."218 Anyone conscious of a grave sin must receive the sacrament of Reconciliation before coming to communion.

In confession one does not need the grace of perfect contrition. Imperfect contrition suffices in the Sacrament of Confession.

The grace of Perfect contrition forgives mortal sins before confession --but one still is to confess them before Communion.

Venial sins of one in a state of grace can be forgiven in many ways (such as prayer of contrtion, the Our Father etc)
