I have had a profound sense of peace a number of times, it has always happened when I should be fearful and worried. I sense that to have this peace, we need to pass it on in some way.
A few years ago, I had a mole removed that might be cancerous, about a month after the doctor phoned to say he urgently wanted to see me, it was non Hodgkins Lymphoma. This was a cancer I knew about, our best friend had it, and three months after, she died. After the initial shock of knowing I had been given a possible death sentence, I prayed for the wisdom peace and perseverance to do God’s will, regardless as to whether the cancer would prove to be a death sentence or just an inconvenience.
I can only say that from the moment of making this prayer, I have experienced profound times of peace and the thought of cancer has never troubled me at all. The journey with cancer is fraught with waiting a month or two for tests, followed by a period of waiting for results.
I could not imagine being able to live in peace with this knowledge without faith
I have never once prayed for healing, at the age of 65, the prayer for healing seemed too complicated to me. We all die at some point, and I just accept this.
I have been a Street Pastor for about eight years, we were out until gone 3 am this morning. As well as coming into contact with lots of wonderful people, we also come across, drunks, anger fights, depression and suicidal people.
The first major fight we witnessed a few years ago, happened in the early hours of the morning, we saw a group of about a dozen people start a fight. As we approached, I saw one man punched to the ground, another was being kicked whilst on the ground, and a lady was punched in the face.
My partners were two ladies in their sixties and seventies, I can only say we walked in the middle of all this conflict, I can only remember having a total sense of peace that was beyond my understanding. The fight came to a conclusion, we stopped with them for about fifteen minutes, then there was hugs, handshakes and kisses all round.
