There’s a sense in which an ideal marriage is one where the spouses prioritize uniting conjugally over all else besides Mass. The reality is that kids are expensive, monetarily and in effort and duration. There’s also an attitude prevailing today among women where they would like to pursue a professional career of some sort. So, there is economic and social pressure that’s working basically directly opposite to the arguably ideal marriage. Marriage is fraught right now. 'Used to be, you’d know a Catholic family because there were tons of kids, because Catholic couples would strive for the arguably ideal marriage I noted above. Now, things are fraught. It’s a tough nut to crack.
