I have not worn jeans, shorts or a tshirt, for the last 7 or so years because I have realized how wrong it is. Always dress pants and at least a polo shirt.

A local church(30 minutes from home) has perpetual adoration and I have a late week night hour (when I am bed the other 6 nights a week). This night my schedule is come home from work, eat dinner, complete household chores, etc. I try to take a short nap so I can function at work the next day before I leave.

I am the only person during this hour. Does my clothing make as big difference during this hour. I otten wear a pair of shorts and tshirt.

I would think our Lord would be happy to have your company at that hour and not care what you are wearing. God bless you. 🙂

Clothing doesn’t matter. Many people stop by our perpetual adoration chapel for short visits, and they are wearing whatever they happened to be wearing when the Holy Spirit led them to stop and visit the Lord Jesus.

I would say dress for the temperature of the chapel, so that you are not distracted by being too cold or or too hot.

Also dress in such a way that if you are stranded out in the parking lot for a few hours (because of car troubles), you will be comfortable and safe. (You can tell that this has happened before–no fun to be tramping to a service station in the wee hours of the morning!)

In general, I think there is a more casual dress expectation at adoration. However, if you think that wearing shorts and t-shirts is “wrong”, but go out of your way to wear them for adoration, something is not right.

I think that by you serving your hour…especially an hour that no one else is willing to cover, you are pleasing to the Lord. Does anything else really matter?
