Glory be to the Father , to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls into heaven, especially those in most need of your mercy

Fifth Day of the Novena for Priests:

St John Vianney, lover of sinners

‘Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light.’ (Matt 11:28-30)

O holy priest of Ars, you spent many long hours daily in the confessional. People came to you for forgiveness of their sins from far-off places. Although you despised sin, you always received the sinner with much love and forgiveness.

O holy confessor of the Lord, St John Vianney, awaken in our priests a sense of their sinfulness before the eyes of God. By your priestly example and prayers, grant them a love of the sacrament of Penanace. Obtain for them the understanding that it is in confessing their sins that God’s mercy is poured out upon them and draw them closer to Christ. Obtain for them a deep hatred of sin and the grace to resist temptation. Teach them the value of frequent confession, where they meet Jesus their Saviour, the source of all mercy and consolation. Pray that all priests, religious, and seminarians may always love the sacrament fo penance. Pray that they may call sinners to repentance by their good example and lives given in complete service to our Lord.

Novena Prayer:

O holy priest of Ars, St John Vianney, you loved God and served Him faithfully as His priest. Now you see God face to face in heaven. You never despaired but persevered in your faith until you died. Remember now the dangers, fears and anxieties that surround them and intercede for them in all their needs and troubles. O St John Vianney, I have confidence in your intercession. Pray for them in a special way during this novena.

Prayer to the Theotokos for those in Consecrated Life
Most glorious and ever-Virgin Mary, Mother of God, the Word was made flesh in your womb. Help us to be open to the Word of God so that, having welcomed it, received it, and meditated upon it, it may grow in our hearts. Help us to live, like you, in the spirit of the Beatitudes and to dedicate ourselves with unceasing charity to evangelizing all those who seek your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Intercede in behalf of those whom your Son has called to share his gospel as modern day prophets. Be a constant source of strength and protection to our nuns and monks and all those is the religious life. Grant that they may serve every person in purity and that, having heard and kept the Word of God, they may be living witnesses to the eternal kingdom. Amen.

Byzantine Prayer for Vocations
Prayer for the Guidance for Youth

Almighty God and Father, I beseech You as one who seeks your guidance. You have called me along with all of your servants to do your will in this world through many different vocations. As I seek your will, I ask for the humility, patience, and obedience to endeavor on true Christian discernment. Bless all those who are discerning their future and grant deepening faith and peace on this journey. I open myself up to your Word so that I may truly become one of your disciples. In your plan for me, never let me forget the love and service that I am called to give to my neighbor. Bless your Church with good priests, deacons, religious, monastics, married couples, and other dedicated individuals. Through your grace I commit myself to doing your will and to the praise of your holy name, always, now and ever and forever. Amen.
