The First Luminous Mystery: The Baptism of Jesus

Jesus descended into the waters to be baptized by John. He took up the challenge of His Father. He knew He would suffer on behalf of us and His suffering would lead to the forgiveness of sins. He knew He was king but His Throne was to be a cross.

We pray that our priests will imitate Our Lord’s humility as they do their priestly duties by accepting their challenges from God.

We pray for any CAF members who are thinking of becoming priests or consecrated brothers or sisters

We pray for more vocations.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name! Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen!

The Second Luminous Mystery: The Wedding at Cana

Jesus’ first miracle was made possible by the firm love and faith of Mary in her Divine Son.

Oh Lord, help our priests to develop an ever-increasing love for Mary. Help new priests to recognize that they may find their strength in Mary as they “Do whatever He tells…” them. Mary is our teacher and always leads us to her Son.

The Third Luminous Mystery: The Proclamation of the Kingdom and the Call to Conversion

Christ came to bring mercy and forgiveness to mankind.

Oh God, bless our priests as they teach Jesus’ message—baptizing, forgiving sins, and consecrating the Blessed Eucharist through the Holy Spirit. May they have a constant renewal of Life, aimed at an ever more perfect union with Christ—the Way, the Truth and the Life.

The Fourth Luminous Mystery; The Transfiguration

Jesus leads them up the mountain where he is transfigured before them. Peter wishes that three tents be built for Jesus and His two companions in order that all might come to see them.

Oh Lord, make more priests open to having the Blessed Sacrament exposed for Adoration in their parishes. A real deep prayer changes us all and makes us more loving, more like the Christ.

The Fifth Luminous Mystery: The Institution of the Holy Eucharist

I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." (John 6:51)

‘There can be no Eucharist without the priesthood, just as there can be no priesthood without the Eucharist’ Pope John Paul II’s, Message to Priests for Holy Thursday 2004).

Christ said, “I will be with you all days, even to the end of the world,” He is there in every tabernacle of the Catholic world. Oh, Lord, strengthen the faith of all priests so they may always believe that it is truly You, Jesus, in the Holy Eucharist.

Oh Lord, may our priests be able to find the time from their busy world to spend daily an hour with you in Adoration.

Lord, help our priests, to know how to guide us in reaching out to others. May we all imitate Christ in service, for we are the Body of Christ.

Fifth Day

St. John Vianney, Lover of Sinners O holy Priest of Ars, you spent many long hours daily in the confessional. People came to you for forgiveness of their sins from far-off places. Although you despised sin, you always received the sinner with much love and forgiveness.

O holy confessor of the Lord, St. John Vianney, awaken in Father John__ a sense of his sinfulness before the eyes of God. By your Priestly example, grant him a love of the reception of the Sacrament of Penance. Obtain for him the understanding that it is in confessing his sins that God’s mercy is poured out upon him and he draws closer to Christ. Obtain for him a deep hatred of sin and the grace to resist temptation. Teach him the value of frequent confession, where he meets Jesus, our Savior, the source of all mercy and consolation. Contrite and forgiven may all those with whom he comes in contact act with that same mercy. Pray that Father John__ always love the Sacrament of Penance. Pray that he may call sinners to repentance with his good example and lives in complete service to our Lord.
Novena Prayer: O holy Priest of Ars, St. John Marie Vianney, you loved God and served Him faithfully as His Priest. Now you see God face to face in heaven. You never despaired but persevered in your faith until you died. Remember now the dangers, fears and anxieties that surround Father John_ and intercede for him in all his needs and troubles especially console him in his most difficult moments, grant him serenity in the midst of crisis, and protect him from evil. O St. John Vianney, I have confidence in your intercession.

My God and Father in heaven, that night in the Garden, on the
Mount of Olives, Your Son told Peter: " Do you think that I

twelve legions of angels to my defense?". ( Matt. 26:53 ).

Father, we ask You now: send twelve legions of angels with
chalices of strength out into the Gethsemene of the Holy Church
to defend and assist our priests, who, strengthened by the
power and presence of these angels, may faithfully fulfill their
priestly missions. Amen.

O God, who have chosen the apostles to make disciples
of all nations and who by Baptism and Confirmation have
called us to build up Your Holy Church, we earnestly implore
You to choose from among us, Your children, many priests,

St. John Vianney, Model of Purity O holy Priest of Ars, your life was a model of purity. Your life of chastity was a source of edification to all. You said that when a soul is pure all the court of heaven looks upon it with great joy. Today we are experiencing a great disregard for the virtue of purity; it is looked upon with ridicule by worldly standards.

O great St. John Vianney, more than ever before, we need your prayers and help in avoiding sins of impurity. I ask you to help Father John___ to keep pure in mind and in body and give good example in his speech, conduct and in his faith. Obtain for him the strength necessary to combat temptations against the virtue of purity, which could lead him away from God. Unite your prayers with those of Mary Immaculate to implore God that Father John_____ be pure in mind and heart and preserve him from those sins which are so displeasing to God.
