2: Joy of God’s presence. Jesus teaches His Faithful 40 Days after His Resurrection.
From The Gospel according to Luke 24:29-35
“And he [Jesus] said to them, “O, foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. (…) So he [Jesus] went in to stay them. When he was at table with them, he took bread and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them. And … they recognized him; and he vanished out of their sight. They said to each other, 'Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us … while he opened to us the scriptures?” And they rose … and returned to Jerusalem; and found the eleven … who said “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.”
From 1st Corinthians 15:5-8
“(…) and that he appeared to Cephas then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at the same time, most of whom are still alive though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born he appeared also to me.” (italicized text for emphasis)
Prayer: Dear Jesus, please strengthen us to know your presence and to share You with others. Keep us strong for the faithful, poor, and Sanctity of Life.
3: Means of forgiveness for God’s people. Jesus gives power to forgive sin.
From The Gospel according to John 20:19-23
“Jesus came … and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ (…) Then the disciples were glad they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you’ (…) he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any they are forgiven;’”
From The Gospel according to John 20:26-29
Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. (…) Jesus stood among them, and said “Peace by with you." Then he said to Thomas, “… do not be faithless but believing.” Thomas answered him “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

From The Gospel according to Matthew 16:15-19
“He [Jesus] said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
From The Gospel according to John 21:3, 17-19
“Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing” They said to him “We will go with you” (…) He said to him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep. Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you girded yourself and walked where you would; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go.’ (…) And after this he said to him, ‘Follow me.’”
From the Gospel according to Matthew 28:20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
