Dear Lord,we pray that the Blessed Mother
wrap her mantle around your priests
and through her intercession
strengthen them for their ministry.
We pray that Mary will guide your priests
to follow her own words,
“Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5).
May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph,
Mary’s most chaste spouse.
May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart
inspire them to embrace
all who suffer at the foot of the cross.
May your priests be holy,
filled with the fire of your love
seeking nothing but your greater glory
and the salvation of souls.
Amen.

Lord Jesus,
we often ask your priests to pray for us:
our intentions, our needs, our problems.
This time, I want to reverse the order
and pray for your priests, your servants,
and in particular I wish to pray for
Father T,
give him your Spirit’s blessing,
let him radiate in our milieu,
may he be a spiritual guide for us,
support him in his ministry,
nourish his spiritual life.
Thank you for giving him to us as a priest.
I pray you, risen Lord,
you who are our Eternal High Priest
and sit at the right hand of the Father.

Holy Thursday Prayer for Priests

God and Father in heaven, that night in the Garden, on the Mount of Olives, Your Son told Peter: “Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, who will promptly send more than twelve legions of angels to my defense?” (Mt 26:53).
Father, we ask You now: send these twelve legions of angels with chalices of strength out into the Gethsemane of the Holy Church to defend and assist our priests, who, strengthened by the power and presence of these angels, may faithfully fulfill their priestly missions. Amen.

For the spiritual renewal of priests.
We praise you for giving their ministry to the Church.
In these days renew them with the gifts of your Spirit.

You once opened the Scriptures
To the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
Now renew your ordained ministers
With the truth and power of your Word.

In the Eucharist you gave the Emmaus disciples
Renewed life and hope.
Nourish priests with your own Body and Blood.
Help them to imitate in their lives
The death and resurrection they celebrate at your altar.

Give priests enthusiasm for the Gospel,
Zeal for the salvation of all,
Courage in leadership,
Humility in service,
Fellowship with one another
And with all their brothers and sisters in You.

For You love them, Lord Jesus,
And we love and pray for them in Your name.
