A Prayer for Priests
By St. Therese of Lisieux

O Jesus, eternal Priest,
keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,
where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands,
which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips,
daily purpled with your Precious Blood.

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts,
sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Your holy love surround them and
shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit and
may the souls to whom they minister
be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and
everlasting crown. Amen.

Mary, Queen of Apostles, pray for them!

O Jesus, keep them all close to your Heart, and bless them abundantly
in time and in eternity. Amen.

*O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power. O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. *Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen.

Receive, Holy Father,
this Immaculate Host,
the Spirit of Sacrifice.
O my God,
pour it in its plenitude over your priests.
It is their glory as well as their duty
to consume themselves for souls;
to be victims,
to live,
to suffer often the scorn,
contempt and injustice of persecution.
May they contemplate what they say each day at the altar,
“This is My Body.”
May they apply it to themselves,

“I am no longer me,
I am Jesus,
in Jesus crucified.
I am as the Bread and Wine,
a substance consecrated
which has ceased to be itself.”

O my God,
I burn with the desire of the sanctification of your priests.
I desire that the hands that touch you
be loving and gentle;
and that tho lips which pronounce at the altar
the Words so sublime
do not lower themselves to trivial formulas.
May they keep within them
the attitude of their noble function.
May everyone find them simple
and great like the Host,
accessible to all
and superior to others.

O make that they carry from the Mass of today
the thirst of the Mass of tomorrow.
May they pour themselves out
on what they do;
may they have the grace to communicate it
in its fullness to others.
Amen.

]A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
John Cardinal O’Connor

Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs.

We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, anointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.

Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.

We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread.

We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary the mother of all priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen.

Ven. Bishop Fulton J. Sheen an excellent example to Priests & all,
Please pray to the Lord JESUS,
for Holy prayer and works in Priest led/aided Knights of Columbus,
Good Counsel, Human Life International, Paternal & Maternal Homes,
Priests For Life, Missionaries of The Poor, Missionaries of Charity,
Ecumenical Personhood USA and 40 Days For Life & Protectors of
God’s Precious Infants, and many more.
as
you always pray for the proclaiming of the Gospel helping the poor.

May John Cardinal O’Connor’s verbal Edict that any father and mother
with child, in the family way go to any Catholic Church for help
be widely known. Fr. Pavone exhorted the same thing for all houses
of mercy.
Pray for us.
Amen.

O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests;
for your unfaithful and tepid priests;
for your priests laboring at home
or abroad in distant mission fields;
for your lonely and desolate priests;
for your young priests;
for your aged priests;
for your sick priests;
for your dying priests;
for the souls of your priests in purgatory.

But above all, I commend to you
the priests dearest to me;
the priest who baptized me;
the priests who absolved me from my sins;
the priests at whose Masses I assisted
and who gave me your Body and Blood in holy communion;
the priests who taught and instructed me
or helped and encouraged me;
all the priests to whom I am indebted
in any other way.

O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart,
and bless them abundantly
in time and in eternity. Amen."
(Straight from the Heart by Rev. Fr. Mario Jose C. Ladra)

O Virgin Mary, Queen of the Clergy,
protect and guide our priests. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

Heavenly Father,
grant that our priests
be strengthened and healed by the
power of the Eucharist they celebrate.
May the Word they proclaim give them
courage and wisdom.

We pray that all those whom they
seek to serve may see in them
the love and care of Jesus,
our Eternal High Priest, who is Lord
for ever and ever. Amen

Mary, Mother of the Church,
Look tenderly upon your sons, our priests.

Joseph, patron of the Universal Church,
pray for us all.

Heavenly Father,
our priests sometimes suffer of solitude.
They feel alone in their ministry.
It may seem to them that they can hardly endure
this heavy weight on their shoulders.
May the offering of our weekly day and our prayers,
to which we have committed ourselves as petals of Daisies,
relieve and help them somewhat.
But may your grace and strength
especially be their consolation,
their source of strength,
their support and their joy.

Thank you, heavenly Father,
for these men who are our priests.
May our prayers accompany them also every day.
Hear our prayers,
hear their prayers.
May we always give you thanks
for these spiritual leaders whom you send us.

Amen.

Christ,
who has entrusted the whole work of your redemption,
the welfare, and salvation of the world
to priests as Your representatives,
through the hands of your most holy Mother
and for the sanctification of your priests
and candidates for the priesthood,
I offer you this present day wholly and entirely,
with all its prayers,
works, joys, sacrifices, and sorrows.
Give us truly holy priests who,
inflamed with the fire of Your divine love,
seek nothing but Your greater glory
and the salvation of our souls.
And you, Mary, good Mother of priests,
protect all priests in the dangers of their holy vocation and,
with the loving hand of a Mother,
also lead back to the Good Shepherd
those poor priests who have become unfaithful
to their exalted vocation
and have gone astray.

Amen.
